    Friends,

I've found a one-owner 1985 MB 420SEL with less than 100,000 original miles near San Antonio, out of an estate sale.

It's really NICE in every respect except that the A/C doesn't work at all.
Thus, I'm seeking a well-qualified A/C mechanic in/near San Antonio, who knows MB systems, can diagnose the problem(s), give me an estimate on the repair cost & (hopefully) repair the A/C, sometime soon.

IF any of our members can recommend such a competent mechanic, please PM me with his name/phone number/location.

    THANKS, satx

    To All,

Fwiw, the gold in color 1986 W126 is as NICE as the photos that the executor sent me are.

All that I can see that needs doing is to repair the left passenger window regulator, repair/replace the Becker Grand Prix radio & fix the AC.
(Even the chocolate brown leather looks like new.)
090124 total miles in 31 years & it belonged to/and was driven 99% of the time by an elderly couple who both passed away (60 days apart) in 2016. = Plus, the complete records come with the car!!!
    (YEP, I'm buying it.)

    yours, satx

w126 is a beast, my dad had an 88 560sel he bought with something like 80k.

front seats(and maybe rear, don't remember) were all spring loaded like a mattress... tons of power on tap and drove like a cloud.

    rman,

YEP, the 560SEL or 560SEC is A BEAST for sure. (The 420SEL is less so but plenty powerful for a full-size 4-DR sedan & doesn't have the "problematic"/expensive to fix air-ride rear end.) = Used to drive our post CDR's beautiful 1988 Forest Green 560SEC "on dates".
(The General said that my old diesel PU was "unsuitable to romance a quality lady", paused & said, "Take the Mercedes." = As you've doubtless guessed, he wanted me to stop "chasing skirts", get married & settle down. - About 6 months later he got his wish.)

Note: When The Boss passed away a few years later, we tried W/O success to buy the SEC. - His widow simply said, "NO" & that was that.

Addenda: The exterior color is called CHAMPAYNE METALLIC & the interior color is called BRAZIL BROWN & YEP it's real leather.

WISHING that someone would know a good/local AC guy & answer my query.

    yours, satx
