Durham's city government (like many cities from coast to coast) is in the hands of the MORON LEFT of the DIMocRATS Party.
(The county sheriff's deputies are the LEOs, who arrested the vandals.)

It is my understanding (or misunderstanding, as the case may be) that burning a US flag is protected free speech, no? But that doesn't mean you have to like it.

Flag burning is NO more SPEECH than setting cars on fire, breaking windows or assaulting LEOs is.
(Judges are HUMAN & just as likely to be simply WRONG as anyone else is. - That decision is just one of those STUPID decisions, imo.)
MANY decisions of the SCOTUS have been overturned/ over the last 2+ centuries. - That stupid decision is another that needs to be struck down, imVho.

ONCE MORE the POTUS has been proven 100% CORRECT: A "noted civil rights leader" (sadly, I don't remember his name.) from Chicago demanded just last night to change the name of Washington DC & to remove/destroy every memorial that is dedicated to any "slave-owner".

I don't see this stopping. There are too many extreme views that are being given credibility through empathy. Most actively is the movement to remove Confederate statues, but there has already been calls to remove statues of Thomas Jefferson, and people I knew and grew up with are calling for an "update" to the Bill of Rights (in particular the 2nd amendment). Each one is simply a stepping stone to the next. Tucker Carlson had a lady on that, on the face, seemed reasonable, but when he suggested, "Why don't we change the name of buildings named after Robert Byrd?"...her response was, "Give it time," which I thought pretty well summed it up. There is no end in sight, just completion of stages. These protesters may have gotten arrested, but they will likely be given a limited sentence with reduced charges, and then they will go on to be popularity figures for their "martyrdom" rallying others to continue in their footsteps.

The DA in Durham, NC stated this AM that the arrested criminals will be tried for several serious felonies, will likely be convicted & sentenced to long terms of confinement.
(IF he's correct, that will "put a damper on" future vandalism/rioting, as 99% of people don't want to spend several years in the NC DoC.)
Also, as I've said elsewhere, the LEFTIST RADICALS, who have said that they want civil war, just may get MORE than they want.
(My adopted family is socially/politically prominent in NC/SC & they are "fed up" with this mess already.)

I, unfortunately, must agree with you. When President Trump won the election in November, I felt our country had a new lease on life. I briefly had new hope that our country could be restored to the principles on which it was founded. After only slightly more than half a year, I again believe that is not to be. Washington is too full of politicians that are more concerned with losing their job than they are with losing a nation. Members of the party that nominated him are joining the Democrats and liberal media in piling on the President for what they believe to be mistakes he has made. When was the last time the Democratic leadership criticized Obama when he was President, or HRC when she was running for office. Please refresh my memory if you can remember an instance (as I said, I am getting old). All this gives the impression that the Republicans cannot govern, whether you believe they have legitimate concerns or not for dumping on the President. I fully fear the result will be the Democrats with their anti-American ideas will win back control of Congress in 2018 and continue flushing the principles of a country I deeply care for down the toilet. The Republican party has not shown the capability, or even the desire, to stop them. God bless America.
