Thieves would have to move tons of boxes (full), tools, benches, books, clothes, etc., etc. just to get to my safe. I've been trying to move this crap out for years but with two daughters moving around the state and country, and a wife that's never thrown anything away, I feel very comfortable that thieves couldn't even find my safe, much less steal it! Plus, I have guard cats on constant watch. :green:

In your situation, it sounds like you don't even need a safe Lol

The large safe in the corner of the living room makes a lasting impression on the potential suitors attempting to court my daughters...it starts with that "Oh shit" face.
Not necessary to put your safe on display in the living room. Just be cleaning your Glock/1911/Sig/CZ/shotgun/AR on the dining room table whenever a suitor arrives to pick up your daughter.

I've thought about this but these smart ass kids today will say 'that's not loaded so no problem'. Therefore I'll have one loaded and ready when the boy comes :loaded:

I know from experience no safe will keep a determined criminal out. If there is enough time any defense can be breached. I had a safe at a small business I ran years ago. Took them 12 hours of work over the weekend but they got into it.

As far as buying a safe I would look for sales and always over buy and get the biggest volume, thickest steel safe you can afford.

Agreed. Without other layers of security, including real time monitoring, all RSC's and even some safes I would suppose are just a good way of gathering up everything in one convenient spot for the thief.

so for sub $1k what would you do? I have 2 HG, 1 AR and 1 shotty, plus 2k rounds at any given time?
Dude. Those are rookie numbers. You gotta bump those up.

Oh, and there's no way I could store ammo in my safes--that would be unpossible. My ManRoom® has two heavy-duty shelving units full of ammo--probably comprising closer to 100,000 rounds . . . unless it all fell in a lake somewhere.

I put those shelving units in my office closet.
Until then I had NO idea how much ammo I actually had, lol.
