I'm hoping someone has one of the viridian green lasers. I use mine on my Sig p238. I like the green for visibility.

However, I find that it eats batteries. Not just when I'm using it, but when it is in storage. I've found that when the laser is off the battery only lasts about 3 months. I've tested this with 3 different batteries, two viridian brand, and one I bought from amazon. I've verified that the laser is not being turned on accidentally while in storage.

Compare this to my Crimson trace that is on 4 years with the same battery, which include using it fairly often.

Anyone else see this issue or did I get a bum product?

    thanks

I did contact Viridian and they actually responded quickly.

"The battery will last between 3 and 6 months. It has a slow sleep draw, so when you push the button it will turn on right away, rather than needing to warm up."

Seems to be a design issue. You can turn it off, or remove the battery for storage. However, I guess it is expected to burn through a battery in 3-6 months, by design. Had I known this I wouldn't have purchased it.

Thanks David, for bringing that issue to light (no pun intended). I hadn't heard of that battery drain problem before. Battery expense and having to switch them out two to four times per year would definitely enter the equation in my buying decision.

Have one on my Smith M&P 9mm. It will be sold with the gun when my CZ comes in.
I had issues transporting the gun with laser, as well drain problems. I would hit a bump and the laser would turn, then be dead on arrival at the range.
