I'm not really sure what 5R rifling is but it sounds like something I'd want :) The trigger is cheap. My AR556 came with all MagPul MOE furniture as well. No doubt if someone was buying today that this would be the way to go. I guess I'm mostly convincing myself I don't need another :)

    The trigger is about $100.

Here's a pretty good explanation on 5R rifling. It makes the gun slightly more accurate and easier to clean

This has 5R rifling in the barrel, better trigger, better furniture. As far as accuracy goes, there is no practical difference in the hands of the average shooter. But in terms of quality this is easily a $700+ rifle priced at $560. I bought a S&W M&P15 Sport II a month ago for $440, which was an amazing deal in itself, never had a chance to shoot it due to Harvey, so I sold it for $500 earlier today to prepare myself for this one.
    Done good.

I know this is a great deal for anyone that doesn't already have the AR556 but is it worth it at all if you already have the regular? Is it just the free float guard and trigger that are the difference? I've seen the trigger online for $89 so that's not enough for me to sell and repurchase. The free float is nice but accuracy isn't currently an issue and I'm not that tacticool yet.
I already have two 16" carbines in 5.56 and a 300 Blackout. Ordered one of the Ruger MPRs anyway. It just strikes me as a lot of gun for the money. Do I need it? No. I've got an optic I'm not using, a bunch of magazines, and lots of .223/5.56 ammo.

I have a 16 inch carbine and a Anderson pistol in 5.56/bunch of mags and ammo. I bought it for the same reason. Lot of gun for the money. I will be getting a new optic. I want this to be a longer range set up for 3-400 yard work. Looking at a 4-16 primary arms to keep it a budget gun.

The PA4-14XFFP has me on steel out to 700 yd with a 16" bbl.
    Good optic for the money.

Well guys, I'm gonna have to eat my words here. I ended up canceling my pre-order. I found a better (in my opinion) deal for my first AR-15.

    Check this out: https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Co...ine-5-56-16-with-M-Lok-Han-p/gun-le6920-r.htm

After some extensive research, and forum searching M4Carbine.net (one of the largest AR15 forums), I've come to the conclusion that this Trooper model AKA the Colt LE6920-R is exactly the same base rifle as the Colt LE6920 but comes with a 13" Centurion free floating m-lok handguard. So basically, I'm getting a Colt LE6920 and a $200 handguard for $700. Hard to pass that up.

While that is a fine deal, I'm going to stick with the Ruger. I have a to have a 6920, and a way too many other 16" ARs in various configurations, but the 18" barrel and the rifle gas system has me still looking forward to the Ruger.

That is a good deal, often rare to find them under $1000.

Good deal, good specs, and Ruger does it quite well, I have the one with the adjustable gas pressure for cans etc. Well made weapon.

That said, have we hit the bottom in price yet? Gun sales have dropped out the bottom, over all sales are down over 20% and in some states down right at 50%! Plus most folks are already have a closet or more full of rifles and my War Dept and Chief of Finances has laid down the law on no more...after I convinced her that HildaBeast would win and I needed to grab that IWI X 95, then Trump won and she said NO more!

Not sure prices on quality can get lower and not sacrifice...I have seen some $300 buck chuck AR's out there, but cheap don't good and good don't come cheap IMO...

If you can shoot many types of AR's before deciding, I would say that is your best bet. Unless it comes down to "that's all I can afford", I wouldn't let price sway your decision. I used to be a Colt AR person, and Colt is very good, but I have found that I now prefer Windham, I like the quality and precision at a reasonable price that I have gotten out of it. I'm not trying to sell anyone on the Windham, just that if settle for something on price alone, you could end up spending more in the long run finding what you really like.

Same here. Also the 5R rifling and the 2 stage 4½ lb. trigger.

That's a good deal on the Colt. Pony rifles always command higher prices. I had a 6920 before. It was nice basic rifle. Nothing special about it though so it was sold off. I put them on par with any other basic rifle from S&W, Ruger etc... I am definitely sticking with the Ruger. It offers way more for the money. Plus I already have a 16".

I just had to have a close copy of the military M4 semiauto to put my mind at ease I guess. I think AR prices aren't going to increase in the near future with Trump in the white house. I'll buy the MPR at a later date.

Honestly, I think if you do, you might be looking at a price tag only slightly more anyway. I know it's MSRP is jacked up, but for the near future, even if you don't see it for $550 again, $600 would probably where you see most bigger retailers will be selling it for.
