Welcome to the forum. Just opened escrow on a place in Warrenton, maybe we can do some deals up there and you won't have to drag all your iron to TX. Need to find a good place to shoot up there.

I'll actually be in Aspermont (short drive from Haskell) for opening weekend in Nov.

    holy smoke, we're neighbors!

we're closer in TX (12-minute drive) than we are in OR (over 6 hours).

i'm jealous of your warrenton place. we're in dry eastern oregon and i've always wanted to try the coast. nice going.

and you're "stuck-n- CA"? three places? how do keep track? or is aspermont just a hunting hide-out?

regardless, i suspect we'll be seeing each other down south at some point. fun.

Aspermont is my Ex-Father-in-Law's (RIP Canon) place. The FIL and I got along well after the divorce and he liked his youngest grandson which helped me stay on his good side. My Son and I do an annual hunt there. This year he's bringing a bunch of his fellow police officer's and I think I'm suppose to be the stabilizing influence (boy are we screwed if that's the case).

Believe me I'd like to get out of CA but looks like it will be another 8-12 years. Warrenton is supposed to be the retirement place but we are starting early so we can try and pay it off before retirement.

Texas is great and I wouldn't mind moving back but wife (native of CA) isn't keen on that idea. Happy wife, Happy Life.

nice. well explained and not an uncommon family story. we're nearing retirement (if we can ever afford it) so with wifey being a native texan (plus we've traveled back to texas yearly for the last 45), its where our hearts want to be, and luckily our business allows us to live anywhere.

hope to run into you while you're there (we'll be arriving a week/two prior to when you do). happy hunting and stay out of trouble, for the stabilizing influence if nothing else.

rain is better than the snow we left behind.

its sure nice to be where they say “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am”, where folks open the door for you, where everyone says ”no no you first please”, where people look you in the eye and smile, where no one is in a rush, where neighbors come over to introduce themselves and offer to help in anyway they can.

    we're home!

Unfortunately the way they drive doesn't say that.

Yer out in the Permian Basin. That's different. Way different.
Haskell, Stamford, Anson, Knox City, Roby, Rotan, Noodle, Aspermont, etc.....
This is cowboy country. Manners and morals still matter.
Just bide yer time when the old farm truck is idling down the FM road. Wave to the locals.
    I digress.
I'll be in touch with OP and have a proper welcome.
