Beretta 32 Tomcat is a great gun, and definitely a good pocket gun / purse size. Took some getting used to the shells ejecting straight back, but as long as you don't hold it low, you are good to go.

My wife is very recoil sensitive. She likes shooting the Sig 238. She has trouble with a full sized 9mm and controlling the recoil. She hasn't dropped it but she can't keep her weak side hand on it either.

Tell her to try shooting a Hi-Power. Full size plus mass of a steel gun = lighter recoil. That's what I've always started new shooters off with if it wasn't a 22 and it's allowed them to move to more recoil weapons since they've learned to shoot without being worried about the recoil (just watch the slide bite if the grip gets too high).

The Hi-power is not an option for her. My very soft shooting STI 9mm Trojon doesn't either. She has strength issues left over from a car wreck back in 1996.

Maybe a spring replacement would result in something shootable, just a thought. I have a Sig 228 that had that done, and its a peach to shoot.

She likes the Sig 238. I had to buy one for her. A friend has one and let her shoot it. Offered to let her have my Colt .380 gov't with novak sights but Noooo, I want the Sig.

It worked out good. She got the Sig and I got a Star model D (what all these little 1911ish .380s are decended from; and a Sistema Colt. Three guns --- Oh the estasy.

My wife loves her 238 and practices with it for her LTC test. Puts all the rounds into the paper plate at 15 yards. I praise her for it (because pass would be pass and that's definitely a pass), she gets all frustrated because they're all over the plate as opposed to bullseye. She's like, here! YOU try it!! 6 rounds at 15 yards, a single ragged hole the size of a quarter. Sorry, babe.

Tell her what combat accuracy is. Sounds like she's there. And that's really all you need.

That's what I'm saying. If you can calmly hit a paper plate 15 yards away, then even at your worst, shitting your pants panic mode, you ought to be able to hit a moving man sized target COM 7 yards away.

Agreed. Just have her shoot from different positions and at different speeds to give her the practice.

Also glad to read about another individual is just uses paper plates as targets. That and a staple gun sure is cheaper than the other options.

I like that a package of printing paper is relatively cheap and that you can print a lot of black and white targets off the internet with one cartridge.

You're not as lazy as I am I guess. Open package, staple and shoot.

Although I guess it would be cheaper to just staple copy paper to the target, but at least the plates are a little thicker and bridge over holes in the plywood better.

I carry a Kel-Tec PF9 on a regular basis. It's got the basic dimensions of an LCP, but in 9mm. Recoil is like catching a fastball with no glove, but if you can find one it's a good way to put decent firepower in a tiny package.
That's the best description of the recoil of a PF9 I have ever heard...thanks for the laugh.

    Kel-Tec .32
    Lightweight.
    Not expensive.
    Reliable.
    Thin/flat. Carries well.
Lower recoil than the .380 version.
Many good brands of SD quality ammo to use.
Don't believe the InterWebz bullshite that the .32 will not work.

Wife carries a KT P-32. Hit where you aim, and it will discourage bad behavior from most!
