    Friends,

I've bought yet another Model 760 Remington rifle in .30-06 & am seeking an AMERICAN-MADE fixed power scope of no more than 3X.

IF you have such a scope in good shape for sale, please respond with photos/price to: texasnative46@gmail.com

I'm curious as to why such specific requirements?

    ZX9RCAM,

    THANKS for asking.

The short answer is: IF using a rifle for dangerous game, a person needs a BRIGHT/light-gathering scope with a wide field & an easy to see reticle.

That says to me: An "old-school", low/fixed power (not over 3 power) & preferably either "post & bars" or "tapered crosshairs", for the Model 760 long-action pump-rifle that I'm planning to have JES "reformat" from .30-06 to .400 Brown-Whelen Improved.
(Also, I prefer AMERICAN-MADE scopes to the Asian ones.)

Note: I don't know a single professional hunter who trusts/uses variable-power scopes on their own rifles. = Simple/sturdy is better, imo.

    yours, satx

    Gotcha.
I was thinking that maybe you just wanted something a little more "period correct", or something along those lines.

    ZX9RCAM,

NOPE. - My intent for the "reformatted" 760 is purely utilitarian.
(I already have a JES-remodeled 760 in 9.3x62mm Mauser & Jesse's work is FLAWLESS & reasonable in price. - If I miss what I'm shooting at, it's MY fault alone.)

The 760 that he will rebore/rechamber to .400BWI is one that I got "for peanuts" (125 bucks), with a rough bore & refinished myself.
(At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging, it looks quite nice after a total refinish.)

Addenda: As some of our members know, I'm "addicted to" the Model 760 & I now own one in every factory caliber except .257 Roberts & the VERY RARE 7x57 Mauser.
(The 7x57 was never sold in the USA & was built for less than 6 months, as it didn't sell well in Europe. = A friend in WV, who is much more knowledgeable than I, says that he doubts if over 500 total rifles were made in 7x57.)

I don't have one, but a red dot or trijicon will fill your bill

    Not old school.....

    Texas42,

While I own/use one red-dot AIMPOINT sight on a Model 760 rifle, it's NOT what I'm looking for to install on my "new to me" dangerous game rifle..

    Texas42,

I have an "old school" AIMPOINT scope for a Model 760 in .300 Savage that I use for feral hogs/WT/exotics.
NOT what I want for a dangerous game rifle however.

    Texas42,

??????? = While an occasional feral boar aseriously wound/kill a person, they are NOT a Cape Buffalo, hippo, leopard or elephant.
(I want a BIG-bore rifle for ANY of them.)
