Glock 19 gen5 or S&W M&P v2?

Choices, choices...
Torn between a new Smith&Wesson M&P full size 9mm and a new Gen5 Glock19, to replace my first generation M&P 9

Anyone seen/handled/shot either?

I was thinking about tracking a double down and doing a comparative review. I was really happy to see M&P come out with a larger Compact.

You need to handle both. A better comparison would be the G17 and the full size M2.0, or the G19 and the M2.0 Compact. I owned Gen3 Glocks for many years and never had major issues. I had an M&P 40 made in 2013 for a while and wanted to like it, but the trigger was aweful, grip was too slick, trigger guard was not undercut enough and never liked the giant beaver tail.

Then came the M2.0. Grip texture is amazing! Now, I do not carry an M2.0 IWB, but I would think it would be pretty tough on straight skin contact. The trigger on both my M2.0s are light years ahead of that 1st Gen M&P I owned. My M2.0 5inch 9mm had some issues right out of the box with weak ejection and jamming, but runs perfect now. My 5 inch 40S&W has been perfect. I like the metal mags of the M&P over the Glock ones as well. I also Like the stock metal M&P sights over the plastic Glock. I think you just get more for your money with the M&P.

I haven't tried either one.

Get them both but the Glock first.

I prefer the M&P 2.0. The grip texture is amazing, I have the 9mm 5" barrel version as a home defense gun.

What part of TX you in? The orginal M&Ps are not pulling in much right now.

I want to try one of those new 2.0 compact mp that are coming out.

And hopefully buy it. I only have 8 9mm handguns.

I really like the P320 as well. The wife prefers the M2.0, so that is why she took the 5 inch FDE.

Had an FS and Compact M&P 1 for years had Doug at ATEI work the triggers and loved them. When my kids started shooting I sold them for two Gen4 19s. I don't mind the Glocks, but I don;t love them either. The new bigger M&P compact may have me selling the Glocks.

I would compare the MP to the G-17, but after I got through comparing I would buy a Walther PPQ in either the 4 or 5 inch. You will be happy you did.

I prefer my M&P 5" 2.0 over my Glock 19 and 17 I used to have. As mentioned earlier the new compact M&P 2.0 would be a better comparison based on size.
