Anyone have information on what is going on here? I am a member and yesterday I went up there and they are closed. Again. All I know about it is some kind of lawsuit from a nearby business. I'd like to find out as much as I can as I am getting tired of being shut out of a club that I have paid annual fees for. This is the third time and I'm not counting the flooding mess. They also have made a gofund me page asking the members to donate to help with legal fees with a goal of 20 thousand dollars, and asking us for legal advice??

    WTF??

This is probably the last straw for me with Lonestar.

Haven't heard about this, but as a paying member, you have the right to email or call and ask for an explanation as to what the lawsuit is regarding and why it's closed while this is pending. I'd suggest email so you have the response / excuse in writing in case you need to seek a refund at a later date.

As for the go fund me, I'd do some research before donating anything. I'm all for supporting the local gun ranges (at least most of them), but if they have a good general liability insurance policy, it should cover the cost of the legal defense. It does not, however cover lost revenue due to them being shut down while this is sorted out. That's a different type of insurance.

Be sure you understand weather your money is going to pay for actual legal expenses or toward replacing lost operating revenue before donating.

Garland Public Shooting Range had a legal issue a few years ago. Some guy way out got shot. Turns out some guy was at the dump shooting and had a ricochet.

Thanks for the replies. They claim to have sent emails about it to all the members. I have received none. I see on their facebook a lot of other members haven't either. I have emailed them and got no response.

I've heard of a lot of shady dealings with the owner. I'm starting to think maybe there is some merit to them.

Looks to my like the typical case of a nearby property owner making unsubstantiated claims because the simply don't like having a gun range nearby.

Those cases often become extremely expensive. Saw Chandlers Gun Range go through the same thing when a developer wanted the neighboring propriety.

A quick google search brought up another range right next to them that is still functiional. That leads me to believe maybe there's something fishy going on.

Yep, that range is actually closer and they are open. Smells fishy to me. I went and tried them out when I left Lonestar.

The one I went to is Gibsons Outpost. It got horrible reviews in the past so I never tried it. I was pleased with my experience there and plan to return. They are a little restrictive for my taste, but the facility is nice, the staff was friendly, and the operation was safe.

In case anyone is following, there was a hearing date to rule on the TRO preventing them from being open. That date was cancelled and "the two sides are working together to come to a resolution". No apparent timetable at this point. They keep promising email updates but many members are not receiving them. One facebook post takes what I feel to be a sarcastic tone stating "if you haven't received an email, calmly email 'so-in-so' to get an update". Many members are not getting replies even then.

I'm not trying to bash or hurt business. I hope they re-open and stay open as they allow a lot of things at that range that many don't. That said a little more professionalism would have gone a long way. They have finally stated that members will get free extensions to cover lost time, hopefully that will be honored.

Had issues when they had the other range but then it kept getting flooded and I believed the hype when they said all the things they where going to do, Never renewed membership and then they shut down, went out to lonestar as i had heard about it and sounded like they where going to be better setup. When i arrived I saw it was the some of the same crew from old range and ended the tour. Looks like I was lucky, unlike some others. The guys have serious issues with running a business and I think they run there business paycheck to paycheck. To bad it was nice having a range on this side of Forney

^^^^that. These guys need to fail so they stop taking members' money and pocketing it instead of making false promises that never happen. Now they have the nerve for a go fund me page. who knows if that money will go towards what it says. these guys are crooks and deserve to fail.

I agree. One of my biggest issues with them in the past is the false promises. They keep telling you the improvements they are going to make and they never do it.

I finally heard back and was told they have to increase the height of the berms. They said they'll be open in a week or two. I've heard that before.

My membership has about run out, and I am officially done with them. The owner has been caught in the past being shady and crooked and I'm done dealing with it.

In my quest for a new go to range, I tried out B-Tactical in Cado Mills near Greenville this past weekend. I had a fantastic experience there and will be back.

    I’ll say a prayer.

I was a longtime member of the late, if not always great, FWRPC.

When my wife wants a load of dirt from Silver Creek Materials, she has to pick it up herself. If I see that “Hip Pocket Theatre” sign at the old range gate, I’ll fill it full of holes.

That fiasco was 20 years ago. I would hope all the ranges in N. Texas learned the lesson.
