First, I'm not very savvy with computers. I was able to OC using the bios several years ago and the computer has been very stable. With Google and YouTube I think I can figure out most things. However, I am now stumped.

My nephew was generous and gave me 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance Pro 8gb 2400MHz. CMY8GX3M2A2400C11R

I have an Alienware 0H869M board.

Apparently I cannot use the two together. My understanding is that my board can't utilize the 2400MHz. Or is there a process in the BIOS that would allow me to use the new memory?

Couple of things, the DDR could be not supported. If its DDR4 and you only support DDR3 it isnt' going to work. DDR4 also only fits DDR4 boards, unless your board is "relatively" new you probably don't have this issue.

Next, the speed of the RAM may not be supported. The RAM itself also may not work with your board, I've had this issue in the past. Corsair is generally fantastic though and I would presume the speed of the RAM is not supported on your motherboard. There isn't any way around this.

    EDIT:
    Supported Memory:
    Up to 24GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333Mhz - 6 DIMMS
    Up to 12GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600Mhz - 6 DIMMS
    Up to 6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1866Mhz - 3 DIMMS
    6x 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM Slots

Not going to work on your machine. The supported speeds are above. Also, don't mix and match RAM. They have specific latencies and voltages. Always go one vendor and one speed RAM.
