I recently picked up a few Hexmag 30 rnd magazines, took them with me today to start breaking in my latest build and they will not seat correctly with the bolt closed. If I insert with the bolt open, they seat, but will not feed correctly, next round always jams. My pmag magazines always seat and feed correctly. Just to make sure I wasn't having a senior moment, I tried them on another AR rifle, different lower manufacturer, and same result.
    Anyone else experienced this? Suggestions?

I at one time was going to try out the hexmags, but then a friend of mine talked me out of it. Seems their have been many issues of them not wanting to load or eject. There are quite a few reports of this on the web. I never did try them though.

Should have done a little research first, but figured magazines would be a relatively safe purchase

    My $0.02 on the situation.

First off, nothing meant to attack/ disrespect the OP or any other magazine buyer. I have thought the same thing since Magpul took over the market years ago.

Why does any other company even come out with regular AR mags? Pmags work and are cheap. If $8 is too much for a Pmag then find milsurp mags for cheap that work too.

I just never could see the reason to gamble on such a cheap and important part.

OP, I hope you get a solution and all is well. The solution may be returning them and getting Pmags though.

I didn't find anything disrespectful about your post.
I liked the way they looked and the hexagon pattern, for me, provides a nice positive grip. Price isn't an issue, just wanted to try something new. The point of the post was to hopefully find a simple mod I could do to make them usable.

I'm just glad I brought a pmag with me so the trip to the range wasn't wasted. I'll be picking up a few more pmags this week.

Plastic melts. There is my argument.

The gun is not designed or capable of melting the magazine by operation. It can melt the front grip. The only way to melt the magazine is thru fire and the operator will be long dead and cooked from heat before the plastic mag or furniture melts. Not to mention the plastic melts close to the auto detention temperature of the cartridges so even aluminum and steel mags won’t exist if heated to those temperatures.

I am also talking about general fires. not just heat from firing.

My mags are not in safe but my guns are. Just saying that my aluminum mags will without hold more heat than plastic mags

Are you trying to say that aluminum or steel magazines will not transfer heat during a house fire for example? You might just want to check on the properties of those metals. There's a good reason things like heat sinks, radiators and engine blocks are made from them.
