What is a good gun case to fly guns in without looking like a case to fly guns in? We tend to fly back to the family farm these days rather than drive (flyer miles from work helps) and I feel lonely w/o the toys. It would just be a couple of ARs and couple of handguns since we travel light when flying. Gun laws in the destination state reciprocate with Texas or are no issue.

Two rifles, two handguns, magazines, ammo, and the minimum complement of accessories required (admittedly, perhaps none) sounds to me like the exact opposite of "travel light".

Personally, I have some old Kalispel cases that will take multiple locks. Yes, they look like gun cases but that's sort of the point. If I were carrying that much, there's no way someone could discreetly steal a case large enough to hold all that.

I'm intensely curious if anyone can provide a suggestion that meets your stated needs; I can't think of anything.

It has to be locked and declared during baggage check. Do you think it really matters if it looks like a gun case?

Why not keep a few guns at the farm?

I hate flying and anything to complicate it amplifies my disgust.

ARs are cheap enough right now to buy as opposed to flying with them frequently.

Agreed. It doesn't take too many trips before those gun case charges pay for you to own more guns. There are plenty of really convenient places to store a gun at a farm. Just look around and I am sure you can find a nice safe hidie hole or three for young guns. If something should happen here in town you always have a gun at the farm.

Might want to throw in a shotgun and a 22. Maybe an H&R single shot rifle. I find farm life lends itself better to those types of guns than a AR15. If you have a trustworthy buddy who can keep your gun in his safe all the better. Just tag it that it belongs to you so he doesn't forget and sell it lol.

    Out here by the lake!
My first Pelican gun vault was broken by Air France on the way to Africa, but was replaced with an upgraded one under the Pelican warranty. The new gun vault made 3 more trips over to Africa.

My old cheap PLANO "hard-side plastic" case survived a MORON driving over it with an F350 dually. - The rifles inside weren't damaged either.
(I paid 3.99 plus tax for it at GOODWILL about 4-5 years ago.)\

Goodwill is OFTEN a great place to buy ( often unused) hunting clothes & gun-cases. = My latest find was a heavily padded/real-tree camo 38" case that fits my Model 7615 carbine for 1.99 plus tax in August. = LOOKS UNUSED.
(Carbine cases for the 7615 are usually over 25.oo & NOT easy to find at our LGS in SATX.)

Excellent point, satx. I bought my last Kalispel Case Line (sized for a full-length rifle) at a pawn shop that thought I was a sucker to pay $50. Anybody who knows those cases knows that was a bargain.

    benenglish,

(Fwiw, I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay retail when I don't have to. = I've got 1/2 a closet full of EXPENSIVE hunting clothes/gear that I bought from thrift shops for "peanuts". = I have hunting coat in Blaze that I paid 2.99 for & that still had the 119.00 price tag on.)

    easy rider,

NO APOLOGY, as I hunt feral hogs/WTs/birds/etc. in everything from ice/snow in WV to "HOTTER than H" in deep South TX.
(This year, I'm planning a XB hunt for bear in Canada. = COLD up there.)

    satx,

I have read and agree with the "DON"T MESS WITH TEXAS" signs, but nowhere on there did it say "Don't mess with Texans".
