I wish. No when I keyed up and whistled in the mike it would literally shut off so the pumps and make them reboot. I first found that out by accident but it became a fun trick after that. Another one was coming through any close PA system. One time I was chased off a hilltop by some Comm guys while I was in the USMC. Guess they got tired of my conversations with the locals. LOL.

I'm only concerned that if I was, say out hunting/wheeling in big bend area for example. There's no 1 for MILES!

Rent a satellite phone until you are licensed to own/use amateur radio equipment. Not trying to be a smartass (Really. No, REALLY!), but given the output of the typical CB and the likely distance to the nearest receiver on the same channel, I'm not optimistic about finding timely assistance, by that route alone.

There was one time I was sailing and listening to the radio. It was the official channel where all the ship captains conversed about directions etc. a couple of Portuguese guys were having a casual conversation and an American came on and cussed them out and told them to get off the channel haha it was hilarious

Got a power cable. The radio works alright. That crimp is bad as you said. Do you know what kind it is or how to repair it? Antenna is an old "signal kicker"

Connector is a PL-259, you can find tool-less types that will make the replacement quick and easy.

I think I still have an old Realistic 23-channel radio from the 1970s. I liked it because it's a 5W, all the more recent stuff is 4W so I had 25% more power!
