Changed an alternator on a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport. LS3, automatic. He offered money for the repair and bought the rebuilt alt. It's a 20min change out. The generosity was worth more then the money. Now he's back on the road....

If a white corvette passes you up. I did that.

not sure if it was what I did to my vehicle, or if it was what "he" did to my vehicle...

middle-aged guy, with his wife and 2 kids in a 11-16 crew cab long bed F250 6.7 diesel, 100% stock except for the purplish/reddish FLORAL SEAT COVERS, got the jump on me at a light into a merging lane.

i floored my 2003 6.0 powerstroke, bulletproofed, FICM and PCM tuned, 4" downpipe/5"straight piped, billet compressor wheel blah blah blah.

i knew all my mods ran like a stock 6.7 but never had to actually test that claim. He got a negligible lead on me, enough to take me in the merge.

In my defense, I am om 35s with stock gears. I may have gained an inch on him with proper gearing lol.

Can't wait to get more lift, bigger tires, bigger fuel, bigger sticks, and bigger turbo haha. My goal is high 12s capable on 37s...

Continued working on the TA today and some Friday.

Cut out the old catback exhaust. The pile of leftovers.

Removed the rear control arms, shocks and springs. Here's a comparison of the old stuff and the new stuff. I'm installing Spohn LCAs, BMR springs and LCA relocation brackets and Koni shocks.

    Here they are installed.

I removed the torque arm and the transmission cross member to install a new cross member which relocates the torque arm mount off the tail shaft of the trans to the cross member. Also installed a poly trans mount.

I'm not installing the torque arm yet because I decided to work on the Carrier/R&P change in the rear end before reinstalling the TA, sway bar and panhard bar. Those parts tend to get in the way when working on the rear end. I'm starting all of that tomorrow.

Replaced the shocks on my Xterra, Monroes with KYB shocks, and man the ride difference is crazy good.

Also replaced the upper control arm. The frigging bolts were rusted in place and had to be cut out. $15 each, factory only was available.

Threw in a fuel filter change for good measure. Its not only more comfortable and better ride, but seems to have a bit more pep. That filter was the factory original with 130K miles on it.

Changed the Spark Plugs in my 10 Caddy STS put in the delco Iridium . It was actually quite easy. The only problem I had was the spring connector on the coil came off plug one and got stuck in the whole. Fashioned a tool from a dental pick and long screw driver taped together and pulled it out. the rest was a breeze. I only had to remove one vaccuum line to get to number 6 plug. replace the air and cabin filter as well

I changed the oil on the wife's Enclave. Hard work, I know. Wind picked up right as I pulled the drain plug too, so of course it blew some oil on my nice clean driveway. I use the incline of the driveway opposite a pair of Rhino ramps so the vehicle stays close to level when it's up in the air. That and it was nice outside :)

Broke the news to a neighbor with 22" rims on an early 2000 Impala. The crappy mods are tearing the living hell out of the car.

Who ever installed the rims stuck the Vatozone spring expander things in the strut springs for a 2" rise. The dilly that looks like two micro exhaust clamps with two metal all thread studs. You stick it in between the spring coils and crank it till the spring is elongated by 2-3"....so the tires don't rub. Those things were meant to help sagging springs. Not stretch them farther.

This guy always has his radio on full blast. On the rare occasion he doesn't blare music. It sounds like there's a midget in the trunk beating the trunk pan with a 3# cross peen shop hammer....going full swing. His suspension is phucked up. Every spring is bent from the expanders.

The bigger miracle is his transmission. Impala isn't known for having the ultimate transmission. It works for granny going to go buy vodka and chocolate but not being Donked' out. The taller tires are tearing his driveline up...

Oh well, just turn the radio up higher and don't ask my way to fix some serious rigging. I'd rather watch it explode.

Next time you get a chance take a look at the suspension of one those jokes. Especially a Crown Vic. You'd think it was done with different spindles. Elongated trailing arms. Custom springs and or struts.

Nope. Spring blocks and a jig saw to cut out clearance. $2500-$4000+ for rims and tires. $50 in spring expanders.....

Now this motherlover wants me to work on his radio.....GM-Chrysler. No.

Removed both wheels off the bike and took them down to Killeen Motor Sports. Bought two Michelin Commander 2 tires off Amazon. Total for two tires was $281.

Mount and balance.....$110. High dollar Fu¢kers but they did it right. Nice and neat on the weights. No blemishes on the rims. 50 miles and the tires are broke in.

Evidently I was riding on trash tires. IRC brand and 9 years old. Sidewalls were cracked all to hell. The tread was hard. The expiration date for tires is 10 years. Guess I should take the advice. The new tires are incredible. None of the death trap feeling of the old tires.

I just might make it to a long life...

Re-hung the front doors on my '99 Suburban yesterday, installing new hinges and bushings.

Reduced interior rattles by at least half, plus a lot less wind noise.

But the rattles in the dash and center console - like every other GM product of the era, even when new - are beyond fixing LOL

I had a 98 Pontiac Firebird Formula that very soon after buying it new, I had weld-in Alston Chassisworks subframe connectors installed. It prevented the squeaks and rattles from creeping in, and it was a solid car until the day I sold it 11 years later. Even the T-tops were square, quiet, and dry in the rain.

Lubricated the motorcycle clutch cable. 5" section of 3/8" hose slid over the cable end. Small hose clamp to hold it on. Filled the section of hose with some synthetic motor oil. Air compressor blow gun to push the oil down the cable.

    Next up. Throttle.

The throttle is push and pull so it has two cables going to the throttle body. Much smaller cables. I need to locate some smaller hose for those. Ill fill the hose section using a syringe. Same thing as the clutch. Air compressor and a blow gun.

Oh yeah. I also have to encapsulate the Chrysler Turbo Encabulator. It's extremely easy once you understand the basic operation. Here's an instruction video.

Maintenance needs to be performed about every 73 days. It's very important.
