Been carrying the Shield9 in a Safariland 7371 7TS ALS holster and loving it. I have a Shield45 I am looking to make my primary carry when on Army National Guard duty. Then the RUger LCR 38+P gets carried as well in a CrossBreed snap slide.

Having a leather holster made right now for my CZ RAMI BD 9mm and that will become my carry when it is done.

Still carrying my NAA mini .22 in my side pocket. Been carrying this little gun for over thirty years, it's saved my butt twice by being there. Too convenient not to carry.

I'm boring. A 9mm S&W Shield 8+1 IWB in a Sticky Holster and a 7 round mag on the belt in a Wilderness mag carrier. I sometimes question if it's enough gun but is is so comfortable to carry and I can shoot it fast and accurately. I have been considering going to a .45.

There’s nothing wrong with carrying a 9mm. It has been proven effective countless times. Lots of folks prefer 45. Hell, lots of folks prefer 40. Doesn’t mean anyone is wrong, just different opinions. You should check out the 380 vs videos on YouTube. They shoot all kinds of things with a 380. I was really surprised what that little “underpowered” round does to a hog skull.

But don’t tell anybody I said anything besides 45 would work, or they’ll kick me out of the grumpy old bastard club.

I carried a 380 pocket pistol (Sig P238) for several years as my primary EDC; mostly due to my daily work environment. With the advent of more modern propellant formulations and bullet design, the formerly little “underpowered” pistol is not so much nowadays. There are several good choices for 380ACP defensive ammo that will do a most adequate job at ‘stopping the threat’.

That was my original conclusion when I settled on a 9mm carry gun several years ago. I was also hung more up on capacity than anything else. My perspective has shifted some as I've done more research in the intervening years and gained more experience shooting. While I think the 9mm is still a very good cartridge, I believe .45 ACP would be better for me. And that lost capacity to a larger cartridge is not as important. That's just my own conclusion. I certainly don't want to start Caliber World War XXXII.

The question is whether I want to select another carry gun suitable for my needs and then take the time to learn it and shoot it as well as I do my Shield. :)

I was active duty when we shifted from 1911’s to Berettas, and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. We went from 21 rounds of 45 and not having a round chambered, to 45 rounds of 9 mm with one in the chamber. I felt better prepared for whatever came my way and never understood all the bitching and complaining from the older guys. Now being one of those older guys, I understand. I’m not a cop on patrol or some soldier in the sandbox. I don’t need to carry enough ammo for a 3 day stand-off. My EDC is just to protect my family and myself, or whatever group I happen to be in. My usual EDC is a commander sized 1911, 8 + 1, and a spare 8 round mag. If I can’t do it with that, I shouldn’t have been in that position anyway.

I just bought a S&W Bodyguard no laser at the FW gunshow. It’s no thicker than my wallet ant fits in my pocket nicely. I took it to the range and put 50 rounds through it with no failures.
