Belton Expo Center usually has a gun show once every few months. Last one was last week I think. Most of us just schedule a time to go to Shiny Top if and when we decide to go shooting. I think a place in Temple has a gun show occasionally too, can't remember.

The gun show is around June or July. Texas Star shooting range by Cop-Cove. Other then that. There's nothing in the Killeen area.

The main stuff is transportation related. Some of the motorcycle dealerships will throw a 'bike night.' There's a car and bike meet up at the old Sam's Station on Thursday. Lots of people show up.

Besides that. There's the military and bars. Don't waste your time going to one before 9pm....

Hopefully I will be able to make it to the next gun show. I hopefully can make it out the next time everyone meets up out at the range.

Temple has a gun show but it’s not that big. In the Frank Mayborn center. Seems it hit once a year or so, definitely not as frequent at Expo.

Have you guys ever thought meeting up at Hicksville outside of North Ft. Hood?

$15/ rifle or pistol and one of the girl said hat they’ll soon have their 200yd berm built.

But what I like about Hicksville is that if you look like you’re competent you can do more than sit at a bench and shoot - they’ll let you work on your draw stroke and that sort of thing. Not sure about SS as I’ve never been there. I’d really like to find a good 500-800 yd range in our AO. But no joy as of yet. I’ve heard CC has a 1,000 yd range but have no details.

We used to hold our biannual TGT meets there but the lack of range safety and general improvements caused us to change locations.

That being said, it is an affordable and decent range. It just couldn't handle our large group.

Best of the West in Liberty Hill has a good long range section and is only about an hour away.

Yeah Hicksville has historically been nice but I'm not driving 45 minutes from my house when I can drive 10 to Shiny Top. As long as you are responsible and not acting stupid, they generally don't care what you do at Shiny Top outside of the ground rules.

I've gotten lazy over the years. I don't like driving more than 30 minutes in any direction unless its something I really want to do or need to do. I don't even make it to the range as much as I used to anymore. I'd change that if some of my old buddies would start shooting more, we all kind of got lazy.

If Hicksville would invest a little bit in to maintenance of their berms and targets it could be a really nice range.

This may have changed since my last visit when at least half the steel targets were damaged or inoperable, berms were low, and grass was tall. It was disappointing to see it going in the wrong direction

I would be willing to go out to Hicksville. It' no problem for me. I like 500 to 1000 yd. Ranges, in still trying to locate 1.

Best of the West goes to 1000.
Temple Gun Club, members only, goes to 300 I think. I think you can join once a month now.
Those are the only ones I know that go past 100 yards anywhere near Killeen.
If you get the Where to Shoot app, there are several private ranges listed but I have no idea what the distances are. You could at least call and get some info probably.
