I'd like to get head-mounted night vision binoculars for hunting hogs and other critters at night. This would be in addition to the night scope I have on my rifle. Anyone have experience? Any recommendations?
    Thanks

I don't know the brand, but I've seen a newer one around with night vision, day scope, and zoom for around $1,000. I'm gonna go for it when the time comes.

He mentioned helmet mounted, so I'm guessing he wants to be able to navigate and not fall into ditches or run into trees. Thermal is great for detecting critters but not for general use and moving around in the dark.

How about the vanilla PVS-14 monocular set up? The 2 x Gen3 tube units are all going to be hella expensive, at least double what the monoculars will cost.

Seriously though you could get a Pvs14 Gen-III in mint condition in the 12-1700$ range on Ebay. There is quite a few folks selling their toys and the end of the year due to Christmas and Taxes I've noticed every year...

Idiotic responses like these to reasonable questions from new members are turning this entire forum into a joke. Stick with your second response.

Flashgor, if your budget is limitless, I would give TNVC a call. They'll walk you through every possible configuration and have a great reputation for customer service.

Another slightly more budget friendly option is NightGoggles.com; essentially a spinoff from TNVC for those interested in NV at a lower price point. They have very good Gen 2 stuff, better than any I've ever seen before.

I would absolutely not buy something from eBay.

Lighten up Francis as we are not curing Cancer here. And I did post a reasonable priced unit once I located some.

And you called my statement idiotic? I've bought 3 Mint to new units now from Ebay for 1/2 their original cost, and They work flawlessly. Some folks are actually honest sellers on Ebay....

OP, this unit was Brand new in box having never been used. Gen-III and if I remember correctly I got it on Ebay for 1,300$. Also credit cards attached to PayPal accounts have their own fraud Protection....

I went with Dual MUMs, but dual PVS-14s works well too. Wilcox bridge mount. OpsCore helmet

    A lower cost option is a PVS-7

    Where do you live?

There are several places in Dallas where you can go to shop and see it before you buy, even test it at night, hand select, etc.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm looking at ballpark $1000 to spend. I've bought and sold on EBay, so I'll have a look after Christmas. I'm about 2 hours out of Dallas and I'm not against going there if I have a good reason. Any suggestions of where to look there?

ATN x-sight scopes are really interesting new digital nightvision technology. They require an IR light, but they are in the 400-500 range. They make some binox for around $500.

Here is some video (I just selected two, they happen to both be painful to watch)

I have two of the xsights and they are great for hunting hogs.
