Strange opening title for a post in Reloading but I gave up reloading, competitive shooting, and competition cook offs when the kids got old enough that I was spending every Saturday on something of theirs. Now the youngest is graduating from College next month, and outside of my mother in law who lives in the front bedroom the house and my time is again mine.

So with being out of it for over 25 years and wanting to buy what I need to reload .45, 9MM, 45 LC, .308, and .223 I am in the market for something that will make that fun and easy. Oh and I am back in the chili and BBQ cook off mode on a fun basis versus really competitive this time, but that is a whole other set of posts and no I am not giving out free samples.

So from people who didn't take a break what do you suggest for me to look at and where should I go in the Pearland area to talk to stores that have people who can help versus just make a sale?

    Welcome back.
Like you, I set aside a few activities while the kids were keeping us busy. Reloading being one.
You'll find that powders and projectiles have changed a bit.
Stainless steel pins in wet tumblers for brass cleaning is sorta recent.
    Not much else has changed.

    Except for prices.

I'd request a catalog from Sinclair and Midway to get an idea of all the stuff that's new. Or go online to look and order from either. There is lots of new things. Do you have a good caliper?

I saw you mentioned reloading 9mm. I reload for everything I shoot, including 9mm. Awhile back I decided reloading for the 9mm was not really a big cost advantage.
I shop around on line for 9mm ammo. When I find good deals I buy a couple of cases. I recently found a vendor selling American Eagle 115gr 9mm for $200 a case. I bought just one case. Federal has a rebate going on until Dec 31st. I submitted by sales receipt and rebate paperwork. Federal is sending me a $57 rebate. $200 - $57 = $143 divided by 20 = $7.15 a box. I can't load 9mm for much less than that.

Depends on how much you shoot, but for fun and easy, progressive is the way to go. Some growing pains getting it set up regardless of brand, but once you get everything dialed in, you can load high quality rounds in relatively short time frames with surprisingly little effort. To me, that makes it fun and easy.

Dude, I feel ya! Did the same and mine just got married and moved on. I threatened to turn my son’s room into my naked room. Mainly just to freak him out cause he knows I might.

Instead he had a huge double closet I turned into my reloading and parts station, and work out room. I left a small trundle bed in there in case he and his wife come home...

Almost exactly the same for me kids gone and I started shooting during ammo shortage a few years ago. Got an old rusty Dillon from a friend and fixed it up and made a few rounds of 40. I was hooked.

I went on to texasguntrader.com and posted a want to buy a Dillon reloading press and got several responses. Bought a nice RL 550 B with a big box of parts and accessories for $300. Now I reload five pistol calibers and shoot a lot. Reloading gear paid for itself after first 750 rounds of .38 and 40 S&W.
I made some mistakes like buying brass, (I pickup way way more than I shoot at the local range). I bet I have 7,000 empty 9mm and another 1000 loaded. Still experimenting with bullet/powder combinations.
