First off, I don't train to kill; I train to stop a threat. Second, walking in public with a legally possessed firearm in a jurisdiction where it is legal to do so, is not 'brandishing'. Third, I carry a handgun to be prepared to protect myself, my loved ones, and others, if needed. The point is not that the Texas church good Samaritan didn't 'stop' the bad guy before he could commit his atrocities. The police can't even do that. The point is that he stopped the bad guy from continuing to murder more people.

‘Brandishing’ is a term used by Anti-Gun Activists to express how their proponents ‘Feel Threatened’ by the presence of a gun in civilian possession. The dictionary term brandish describes holding up in plain sight, flourishing, or waving something such as a sword, or weapon. I would interpret this to be in a threatening manner. However, this term has been used by prosecutors when charging people for open carry in concealed carry only regions when concealed weapons accidentally became visible.

The left loves to redefine terms to fit their agenda... 'take a knee' used to mean something different than it does now.

Rainbows didn't always symbolize lgbtq (lmnop)...

It's just one of their many forms of deceit.

    Your gonna love this story:

Way back when I was at a IT conference, mid 80's IIRC one of the vendors had a box of the small rainbows that were stick on. Rainbow was maybe ¾ of an inch or so. I thought it was kinda neat, I like rainbows and grew up thinking there was a pot 'o gold at the end.

I ask if I can have several as I will give them to some of the folks who worked for me. He said sure, take them all we are getting rid of them.

So I get back to which ever Army post I was on at the time and had some around the monitor of my computer and gave some out to some of the gals in the office. I noticed some folks weren't interested in them and I thought nothing of it...then one day one of my engineers stopped in to see me and saw them around the monitor. I said you want one and he no...you know what the rainbow stands for???? Well rainbow I guess. He laughs and sez no, its the symbol of the Lesbian-Gay movement!

    WTF!!! Your kidding???

    NO!

Off come rainbows and into the trash.

Lol, at least he told it to you "straight"

There was some really old book (best seller, too) that had a chapter where a rainbow was a promise that the Earth wouldn't be flooded again...

so naturally evil would want to redefine it and use it for their own purpose. It's not that I think all lbgtq are evil, they are just influenced by it... some more than others.

He is practically a demigod. In his own mind.

I was thinking more of a Legend in his own mind.

Lets face it, he is a far left liberal, he is also former military and clearly did not care for it much. So he applied for a job as a left wing political hack writer and his creds were:

Hire me because I am GAY (or something???), I am former military and don't like them.

    YOUR HIRED!

Liberals hire based upon sexual orientation and color of skin and not on your ability.

While I don't agree with the dude in the article, one could take from it the always correct mantra that everyone should take as much training and practice as their pocketbook and capacity permits, if they are going to take on the responsibility of legal firearms carry.

I was at a steel challenge yesterday and there was a dad and two girls there (I'd say 8ish, its been awhile since I had kids that age so not certain). They were shooting with Ruger pistols and definitely had the practice part down. Yowsa.

The logical answer to that article would be for each of us to take a position in our homes, never go outside and to assume a helpless fetal position. HMMMM, that's not what I had in mind!

I'm not a soldier or a cop but through misadventure, I've seen a lot of violence in a place that's known for street violence. That isn't good or bad, but it was a daily way of life. For us, we didn't know any better. It was our life!

Training is good but when a bad guy or more likely, several bad guys bring violence into your otherwise beautiful day, it won't be anything that you "trained for." One minute, the day is going great and the next minute, some A hole is trying to bash, smash, cut, shoot or run your ass over. You won't know why it's happening and there may not be any reason. Maybe the SOB is just nuts, high, drunk or mad at his girl friend!

I'm a pretty fair shot in spite of age and infirmities and I know my pistol inside and out, the loads it likes and the holster that I carry it in. I practice, but it's not an obsession.

My "training?" I get out where the people are, observe, plot escape routes, assess levels of threat in those I see. I have "Radar" for trouble, but it doesn't do anything for you if you don't use it! I can tell a good guy from a bad ass 30 feet away! I know who to keep an eye on until I leave the area. If the situation changes, it may be time to excuse yourself and leave!

After establishing proficiency with your tools and equipment, that is the only kind of training that keeps you alive.

I do train with my handgun, mostly on my own, but one thing I have trained most my life is, to avoid situations. To me my gun is a last resort and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get into an "OK Corral" situation, so I'm fairly confident in what training I do have.
