    Friends,

I'm seeking a shootable ROLLING BLOCK or other SINGLE SHOT Black Powder rifle for hunting OCONUS that is at least 40 caliber bore. - Larger than .40 caliber is preferred.

The action should be tight & the rifle should have a GOOD bore.

I could not care less about whether the rifle has been refinished or not. - I'm looking for a HUNTING rifle, rather than a collector's item.

PLEASE send photos & price to: texasnative46@gmail.com

    yours, satx

I might have what you want. Remington 1867 with, I think, Sweedish crown stamps. Rolling block with firing pins to shoot both rimfire and centerfire cartridges. Action is very tight, I need to clean the bore - it's been sitting around for 40+ years and it's got a lot of dust (not rust) in it, but I just eye-balled it and it looks pretty good.

    To All,

    BOUGHT Robert's NICE rifle.

Turns out that it is a DANISH copy of the Remington, built at the Copenhagen National Arsenal in the Summer of 1878 (figured that out from the serial number list) & re-chambered TWICE (once from 11.7x41 Rimfire to 11.7x51R Centerfire and then re-bored to 11.7x56R Centerfire in the 1890s.)

About that same early-mid 1890s period, the Danes recalled all the RB muskets to the arsenal to be "modernized", removed (with the exceptions mentioned below) all of the original rear sights & replaced the rear sights with "ladder sights" & evidently then re-issued the "modern muskets" to The Royal Coastal Artillery Regiment & to "Fortress troops" in the 1890s.

Fwiw, I received information last PM from a "museum employee" in the UK, who said that a FEW of the Danish RB muskets, when they were returned to the arsenal, had their military sights replaced with "more appropriate" civilian-type sights & at that same time the bayonet lug was machined off of the barrels. - He said that those rifles were then issued to "the national Foresters", i.e., probably what we would call Game Wardens.

THANKS to Robert & to the NICE folks who sent me information on my "new to me" 3-band military musket. = I'M PLEASED.

    yours, satx

    Friends,

Inasmuch as I've got my BP hunting rifle now & have also "worked out" a suitable BP hunting load for it (405 grain HB cast lead bullet in front of a case-full of FFg BP at about 1350FPS.), NOW I'm looking for a PRAIRIE BELT or MILLS BELT with .45-70 canvas ammo loops.

IF any of our folks have a "well-used but serviceable" cartridge belt for .45-70 for sale, I would be a BUYER.

    To All,

I'm still seeking other ROLLING BLOCK rifles/carbines whether Remington made or a foreign military clone.
(Robert's NICE RB from Denmark is GREAT & has made me hunger for other RB rifles.)
