    Like mine......and I can be purty picky....lol

To be clear, there was nothing at all wrong with the EB. But the fit and finish were no better than my Sig 1911's, even though the EB cost three times as much. Guncrafter was a different story, incredible fit and finish. Significantly better than EB or NH.

    Debacle with Texas Edition?

Absolutely the WORST trigger on ANY 1911 I've EVER had - including $400 ones! When I gave it to Tip Burns to repair, he was shocked at just how bad it was, and suggested I return it to Sig for rework. Like I told him then - there was NO excuse for a gun to be released that way, and I wanted an independent set of eyes to look it over thoroughly while fixing the trigger pull.

NONE of my EB's had the lousy trigger that my Sig Texas Edition did - and as for fit/finish, IMO the EB is better. But we all have our preferences!

And none of us has been able to compare a really large number of one to the other. We can only report our experience. Not really relaying preferences, just my personal observations.

Had the first Sig 1911 I bought had problems, I would not have bought a half dozen more.

If you like EB, you would love GI.

I've had a couple of SIGs, and they're OK. But I'll always be a Colt dude.

And that's the key. I ain't gonna tell someone that all Sig's are trash - I own a decent number of 'em bought before the TE that I don't hesitate to carry - just as I do Kimbers. Folks will trash talk Kimbers my half-dozen or so have always been reliable. The only bad part is that as my collection has grown, it's gotten harder to find one that excites me....lol

My goodness. Between this thread and the revolver thread, I'm never going to be able to afford a gun again after the divorce my wife files for because I can't stop buying guns I must have.

Colt, nice, but over overpriced. I have a few, just because of the Colt name.
When the Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match (O5870A1) was reissued, I bought one. Now that is one nice firearm. It has the original deep blue polished finish similar to the original Gold Cups from days gone by. It has a very nice trigger and I am accurate with it. I bought it from an on-line vendor that had bought all his supplier had. He said he had twenty. He sold one to me for $895 plus shipping. It is a Colt, it is very nice to look at, it is accurate, and the price was right. What else can you ask for?

So I am looking for my next 1911. I have become very ennamored with the commander size 1911, so here are the ones I am considering.

This will be a alt-carry (I typically carry a manual safety P320) and also used as a range gun.

    Below is a list of considerations in order of preference;

    - Dan Wession Guardian
    - Colt Lightweight Commander
    - Springfield Range Officer Elite Champion

I am open to other suggestions (except Kimber).

The cost gap is pretty broad here, but I am willing to spend between $800-$1300 (and yes, you can get a Guardian for $1300).

The DW is just the butter in the hand.
The Colt is, well a Colt - but I am not sure I like the finish on the slides.
The Springer ROEC is a really nice gun. However, I already have one in 9mm.

    Thoughts?
Would you consider the Ruger SR lineup of weapons or the ArmsCor 1911A2?
