So, not specifically replying your question, I like .40 cals. I (mostly) carry a S&W Shield (trigger feels like sand paper, but shoots predictability) and I use a Kangaroo Carry. I'm a big guy too, and I've decided to go for deep concealment rather then quick draw.

    Just another opinion...

If you are new to handguns I would suggest trying out guns you like and keep in mind "is this a gun that I can conceal?". I have carried many different guns until I found ones that I really like carrying. I wouldn't rely mainly on what others like, it might not be for you. Many ranges have different handguns that you can rent.

I don't carry but the XDs 9 works great. I cast & reload for mine but not a fan of 9mm. IIRC Glock does have a similar pistol.

And then as you try different holsters - leather, Kydex, IWB. OWB, etc- you create a bottomless labyrinth called "the drawer of unused holsters".

True, or they are stored with the various firearm parts that one has changed out.

I carried a glock 19 when I first carrying LEGALLY, and while glocks run like a small block Chevy, they have no soul! I also carried a glock 36 for awhile. Very dependable pistols. But I like my Ruger sr-40 and that what I carry now.

Most of the time ............. I carry a S&W 640 with a Barami Hip Grip in the area where I should have a butt. But I'm 6'1" and 160 lbs. so I have a "hollow" space where my butt cheek should be! Conceals great with only about 2/3 of the handle (2" +/-) above my belt. Very comfortable. :green:
