Yeah, the Aspire is all about getting great video allowing someone to pilot while someone else does the camera work.

The Mavic gets basically the same video as a phantom but in a more portable package.

    I'd love a Mavic but I can't justify the cost when I have a perfectly good P3A.

I've got a trip to Alaska coming up. I'd like a Mavic because you can put it in a backpack. I wouldn't want to take the P3S with me becuase it just takes up alot of room

I have the same issue. By time I case the extra stuff the case comes out to be the same size as a full size carry on. P3 series is old school now.. lol

That's what keeps mine from getting used most of the time.

I still carry mine in the original box too, which is getting a little worn out.

I'd love to have the Mavic so I could throw it in a saddle bag on the bike and take off.

I've since discontinued RC myself. Just isn't for me I guess. Was super exciting at first but now I can't be bothered to even get out and fly my stuff anymore. Not sure what happened.

Other stuff is still fun, just wasn't the hobby for me. I've found more enjoyment in riding my motorcycle and other things and flying kept getting pushed further and further back and now I don't want anything to do with it anymore.

Still wasting money on RC. More for relaxation than thrill though.

I find my fast moving stuff is getting dusty and my boring floaty stuff gets most of the use.

I flew my Phantom at the ranch the other day looking to get some nice sunset shots. I thought the camera tilt looked off so I brought it down to a 8 ft hover and sure enough it was leaning to one side.
When I got home I read up on it and it seems a pretty common issue. I ended up following advice and doing a basic IMU calibration and it fixed the problem.
Its still flying good still lots of fun to have, its just been so freaking windy latley I can't get it out much

For those who don't want to read through it.

"The FAA’s Registration Rule violates Section 336 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act. We grant Taylor’s petition for review of the Registration Rule, and we vacate the Registration Rule to the extent it applies to model aircraft. Because Taylor’s petition for review of Advisory Circular 91- 57A is untimely, that petition is denied."

So, is it really as simple as it sounds?

Maybe, maybe not. Reading the entire doc, that SEEMS to apply only to LOS flying but they seem to waffle also.

To be fair I've only scanned it since I never registered and am not affected either way.

Have had some time on my hands lately, decided to give quads another try. I bought a Syma X5HC and got it in yesterday, I think I let the speed quads and little ones sway me too much in getting out of the hobby. I definitely like the slower ones. Super stable quad, nice that it auto-hovers. I'm not used to that, all of mine require manual control.

Picked up an Inductrix FPV yesterday to fly around in the house.

Other than a stupid decision by Blade to use what is possibly the worst option for connecting the battery, it’s a load of fun.

Signal is good enough to fly in every room of our house. After hacking the batteries and swapping the connectors to servo connectors, and making an adapter for the charger, I get about 3 minutes on a 150mah 1S battery while buzzing through the house and trying to avoid Dogzilla.

Gonna swap out the servo connectors for JST-PH when I get a chance. Should be able to get about 4 minutes when it’s all said and done.
