I want and only want a Colt. I had many ppl try to sway me into Sigs or SAs, even high dollar ones. But I want a Colt.

Dad carried one for decades. The question begs:

    - which model?

Need a bit advice and education here.

    Budget $1,700.00

Get a Colt Wiley Clapp .45. Beautiful gun and you'll always get your money back. Well under your budget of $1700. Never apologize for loving a Colt. Everything else is just a copy.

    Here's one. It's a superb shooter. It's wearing VZ G10 cherry stocks

Undoubtedly there will be some who will say Sig, Kimber and name the gamut of manufacturers...

Don't be swayed....you can get a lot of Colt for under $1700.00....

I own quite a few 1911's...every one of them a Colt...

    Gunz are icky.
Colt currently produces three different size 1911's.
    Goverment
    Commander
    Defender
Each size comes in several configurations, calibers, and stainless or blue fnish
For general all around use I prefer the Gov't size.
For cncealed carry I prefer a stainless Defender.
You should handle each to see which you prefer.
    Of
Course the correct answer is get all three!

THe New Agent is no longer in current production.....I carry a later New agent that has Novak sights, just couldn't warm up to the trench sight for carry. Retired the stainless Defender after 16 years of edc.......

Gov is the largest frame i take it... good advice. I will have to check sizes and fit.

Was unaware of that info - carried a Combat Master many years, switched to the New Agent as it was lighter than the CM - never had any issues with it and got a perfect score using it on my last CHL firearms test. Right before OC passed.

It didn't have the cyclic rate of the Detonics, but was 100% reliable and accurate at SD ranges.
