Here in San Antonio the precipitation has stopped but more ice has formed throughout the day as temperatures drop and pavement cools off from the 60 degree weather yesterday. So, I expect more ice tomorrow morning than today yet schools will be open. Wut?

Trying to decide if I will open my business.

Quick check of the weather tomorrow for SA - 44 degrees, no precipitation, winds out of the NE 6 to 8 mph......., low tomorrow night 29 degrees.

Appears schools there check the forecast.

I'm on the coast and school is closed today and tomorrow.

Maybe someone wanted to walk to school uphill in the snow?

Doesn't get above freezing until noon, no sun, ice won't melt quickly once it does get above freezing. Roads here are wet and icy now. Won't change until late tomorrow.

I guess I check the weather more closely than you and the schools.

No school tomorrow here in Seguin and ice still all over everything. Dry now, but ice remains.
Exactly my point. No precipitation is falling but the reason for closing today was icy roads. That won't change by tomorrow morning.

Fine. You walked in the snow to school. Still doesn't explain why you would close for fear of ice then open when you know there is ice.

Over here in Houston, the ice on the roads won't melt until mid-day tomorrow (as has already been noted) so most (maybe all) the school districts are staying closed on Wednesday.

And as for going to school in snow, that's understandable. If I lived where snow and ice were normal, I'd expect the road crews to be equipped and supplied to keep roads open. Here in Houston, where this happens once a decade, if that, we don't have fleets of salt and sand spreaders to follow the snowplows so, yeah, when we get ice we try not to drive on it.

If the precipitation today and the temperatures today and tomorrow are roughly the same in SA as here in Houston, SA is screwing up by opening their schools.

    Helotes!
NISD made that call at 4:45am this morning. I left for work 45 minutes after that and all the major roads were clear. It may be cold, but there is no reason to cancel school for a second day. They made the right decision.

    18 tonight in Austin

Hey Austin, you guys get any snow? I had heard there was some snow just down the road from me.

This is from last night when I was trying to get my new to me scope zero’d..

Windchill was 15.7. Was a tad windy. Ok. It was freaking cold, but I was committed to task.
