    That place east of Waco....
I hope none of my posts came across as "anti training". If you want it or feel you need it then you should go for it.

Some of the most fun I've had has been training on the FATS system. You can put yourself in an almost unlimited number of scenarios most of which are based on actual events. It offers a lot of what typical live fire training can't.

Used to be a place in Waco but I think they closed.
    Is this the place?

I hope they are.....I have a free session to cash in.

Does anyone think they'd use a true 360 degree live-fire training facility?
I think it would be a bit sketchy for a public range. It does sound like a lot of fun with some active targets; the kind where they pop up or beep at you and you're suppose to hit them in a certain amount of time. I've actually done that in my living room with the Laserlyte gear.

Most of the ones I've heard of (I have no first-hand experience) were reputed to have fallen into disuse due to drainage problems.
Mud isn't part of the fun?

When I get around to building mine, it's going to look kinda like this.

I can put a rope across the entrance with a sign saying "live fire, do not enter" in case some idiot wanders past the no trespassing sign and towards the sound of gunfire.

I'll be sure to put the entrance at the downhill side. Don't need another tank

I think you're messing with natures way of thinning the herds.

Well the idiot in the above scenario is likely to be a deputy coming to investigate "the sound of fully automatic fire" (actually happened once) so I'd rather not have a shoot out with them.

    1. I like offensive and defensive vehicle training with weapons.
    2. Weapon tactics with gas masks on.
    3. Water training with weapons
    4. Repealing and shooting.
    5. Upside down shooting.
    6. Shooting under objects.
    7. Instictive shooting
    8. Transitioning from primary to secondary and back.
    9. Shooting past people.
    10. Engaging targets from vehicle at 5 feet then out to 150 yards or more.
    11. Engaging targets in vehicles
    12. Shooting from a boat.
    13. Engaging targets from shore to a boat.
Stuff like that makes me happy. Anything else is just average, makes me feel depressed.

i am not offering services. I want to pick the brain of the average Joe as it relates to training in order to more completely understand why classes i attend have unfilled spots. All i'm interested in is good people getting good training more often.
Oops , sorry, I'm not your average person and I know 99.9% of people on here or out in the community will not shoot past each other in a training scenario. What I put up for training the average person won't take the time to set up the range to do 80% of what I said.

That has to be the funniest sh $% I have ever seen. Well next to my buddy that fell out of a helicopter 60 feet into water because he was trying to put a dip in while we banked hard left. You know if you were a Bat. guy I would have to send u a beer for that one. You made the most fundamental mistake of them all. You left brass behind.

    1) I'd love to take an NRA Basic Pistol course (among others) and leverage that into a licensed Texas instructor certification.

    2) For many years before I enlisted, I read voraciously of every kind of training material I could find, and taught myself the rudiments of rifle, handgun and shotgun. Since then, I've had force-on-force, CQB, MOUT, Diplomatic Service rifle/handgun training, and am always looking to expand my KSAs with quality information and instruction.

    3) Deployment schedules get in the way, mostly, but also the fact that information regarding reputable, quality training seems to be hidden under a bushel for some reason. I've asked around, attempted to network, and posted queries on a number of different forums, and have never derived much in the way of useful information, if I even received an answer at all. It seems that instructor training is a closely guarded secret.

i rely on my employer to provide me with the advance training. Besides qualification and night time shooting, I did the active shooting training not too long ago. I would like to see more M4 training and that is on my wish list.

I would really like to expand into CQB. I don't know anyone in my area that teaches it that I trust. I had one guy offer, but no thanks. The other guy I was training with sort of disappeared after all kinds of promises of swat training and "Tier 1" style tactics SMFH..... I have done a lot of tactical pistol, defensive pistol, and same with rifle up to this point. I train with a group about once a month and also a few Games guys that are fellow competitors.Other than that, I dryfire different drills every day after work. I think training is WAY more important than the cool guns we think we need. So many I run with served in some form or fashion. I was a Paramedic for some years, so that was the extent of my public service. I wish I had gone in at least for 4 years. The training alone would have been worth it.
