Got e-mail from The Firearms Blog this morning:

    What Is The DigiTrigger?
A firearm that is DigiTrigger enabled becomes a hybrid, with two distinct fire control groups. The first and primary one is the mechanical group, which operates exactly as the mil-spec trigger group originally found in the AR-15. The second is a microprocessor based firing system, which operates seamlessly with the mechanical trigger group. Since the second fire control group is software based, the user can choose between preset modes

    MULTIPLE FIRING MODES
The DigiTrigger has 2 firing mode options. The standard digital mode allows for a much lighter trigger pull. This will also allow you to fire much faster than the normal mil-spec trigger pull. There is also our Pull/Release Mode. This allows 1 shot per pull of the trigger and 1 shot per release.

    INCREASED RATES OF FIRE

Because the DigiTrigger has such a precise and light trigger pull, it will allow you to rapid fire like you never have before. It will also not significantly affect accuracy due to less trigger play. With our PR mode, your gun will shoot at a higher rate of fire due to the pull and release functionality.

    COMPATABILITY OPTIONS
Our trigger system is compatible across any mil-spec AR-15 lower. We have tested our product on all major AR systems. The most important requirements of your lower are both the acceptance of a mil-spec trigger group AND removable trigger guard

    Here's a video from their web-site:

I've idly wondered how long it would take for the electro triggers from paintball to make their way to actual firearms. It seems like this is a well thought out implementation.

YMMV, but there's just something about electronics and switches on my AR 15 trigger along w/ a "grip" safety - as the bowler hat'd youngster at the top of stairs with Newt and the Buffalo Heifer gals said in "Lonesome Dove" - "NOPE" I ain't a goin in there.......

Some electrical tape and no more grip safety

Seems like an extraordinarily bad idea on a 1 pound trigger with no break.

I wouldn't use this device on a gun I was going to trust my life to. Not without a ton of testing and years of proof of it holding up. It'd be an expensive range toy. That said, since the electronics (and the grip safety) don't kick in until the third position on the selector, it theoretically would be fine to use in manual mode if the electronics go down.

I do want to see what the reviews show. If nothing else, I think it's a neat concept.

Electric triggers for civilian sporting arms date back to at least the 1950s and the technology is much older than that.

I'm becoming convinced that most of the firearms business (maybe most of all businesses) is run by people who find old things, repackage them with some tweaks, and send out press releases announcing The Second Coming.

Yeah, yeah, I know: tweaks + time + repetition == true improvement. But I'm feeling grouchy today, OK?

I don't need one, but I'm sure this will be on some politician's ban list soon.

They won't ban it. They will say how wonderful they are and how they need to be coupled with features to prevent firing without whatever BS they can come up with to make a gun not work when you need it.
