I've been meaning to change some little things on the suspension for my 81 Toyota pickup. I found after a few trail runs the rear leaf springs I used for my lift were too stiff, the front shackles are too long and the truck is just a little too tall. So I started this week by pulling a leaf out of the spring packs. Now the rear has a better ride and ride height. Next I will shorten the front shackles to 5 inches instead of the 6.5 inches they are now.

Road the bike to a "maintenance day" in New Braunfels. Only rained on me a little bit

Used a buddy's fancy electronic harmonizer to balance my carbs. I had gotten the idle balance spot on with my tube of water on a stick, but we were able to balance out the part throttle as well. Definitely noticed a difference in throttle response on the ride home.

What's the manufacturer on the bikes? Triumph? Years?
Ural Motorcycles. It's a Russian copy of the BMW R71. They originally stole the designs through espionage and managed to smuggle a couple bikes out of Germany to reverse engineer. They've been building them since 1941 with only minor updates over the years. The Ukrainians and Chinese have their versions of the bike as well.

I get the bug then don't for awhile. No interest in it and then it hits again. I can afford to stretch this car out. I've made friends with it. I want it to broil tires.
I just turn off traction control on my ram hemi.
It broils better than my pocketbook can stand.

Vaq, I grew up in a truck. It's the recliner ride of a car that gets me. Chevy came up with a serious motor. The automobile catalogs describe it as Refinement. That's code for haul ass.

    You mean it won't now?

It'll third gear scratch with traction control on. Each time it kicks in. It's a engine scream that sounds like it blew up at the end. Traction control kicks in'. It stays fairly straight. Actually kinda cool. With it off, she'll wag side to side.

    Needs more grunt.

Funny story about my youngest stepdaughter and her first car.
Wrecked it trying to spin the tires, the boy with her was trying to show her how to do a burnout in the grand prix. He didn't know it had a traction control button.
Dumbass told her to put it in neutral, rev the motor, then slam it into drive.
I got the truth out of them in less than a week, lol.
