How soon before you get your green card? Just curious.

Not sure. I looked it up but people have said in their experience it could be one month, nine months, or years.

USCIS has messed up and delayed stuff for me already so I won't be surprised if I have to wait a long time.

If your wife is a citizen of the United States, is there anything stopping her from purchasing the gun?

Also, which part of Texas are you in?

Ah sorry, missed that post about already shooting his wife's guns.

Fosty, have they said what the hold up is with the green card application? If you've already got the employment authorisation card, the only thing needed for your green card is an interview with an immigration official with you and your wife.

Well the big hold up was with my employment authorization. They lost 90 percent of the paperwork I sent in so I had to do it again, and then by the time that was received they wanted the latest tax information from my wife that she filed while they were messing around.

So hopefully the green card doesn't take too long.

Also, are you actually an Englishman? What brought you here?

Yeah, born and bred in England. I came here when I got married to the self proclaimed Queen Of Texas :)

We've been through all the hassles as well, so if there's anything we can help you feel free to ask

G'day mate. Welcome to the best state in the union. I came from a gun controlled country myself. Approach ATX Armory or Centex Gun Works, great guys & girls and very helpful. Im not certain how it works but while a green card is required for work as you know. If the shop is able to "add" you to their FFL, youd likely have to be a citizen, maybe? Im curious too.

You don't add people, i.e. employees, to your FFL under normal circumstances. Employees filling out the dealer side of the 4473 forms or any other paperwork are just that, employees of the business. Obviously I'm not talking about a C&R or sole prop but an FFL granted to a corporate entity where the FFL is held by the corp and its board of directors (those with legal power to bind the entity) are the ones "on" the FFL in the sense we are background checked but our name isn't on the issued FFL, just the corp's.
