Russian weapon producers have presented their recent development, the SVLK-14S Sumrak, the first sniper rifle in the world that is capable of eliminating the enemy at a distance of over four kilometers.

You will not be able to run around in the woods with this rifle, but you will be the first in the world to hit a target 4,200 meters away. Something Russian snipers already did at the end of September.

I’m skeptical that anyone made a 4,200 meter kill with a CheyTac.

https://cheytac.com would have this on their front page if that actually happened. They list a couple of 1.5 mile kills, but none at 2.6 miles. That’s unbelievable.

Give me the broad side of a barn, and let me shoot from the side of a mountain down at a barn away from the base of the mountain....I'll nail that sucker at 3 miles!

It's not a Cheytac, and the article doesn't say anyone got hit by it.

They state that someone used it to make a >4km shot in September.

The article also says the barrel is made of aluminum, so i wouldn't consider it credible.

Windage Windage Windage - I may have only had very limited experience shooting at 1000 yards but I know at that distance even with a perfectly still target there was always the wind. I just do not see how you could make all the allowances for varying wind conditions over 4 times that distance and still ensure a one shot kill, with solid projectile. It may be shooting a fairly heavy round but it is no 120mm APDS and it starts out traveling at only about the same velocity as 5.56mm from 16/18" barrel.
