Got a chance to go see the movie "12 Strong". I've seen some negative press on it, both because the lefties hate it and many pro-military guys will pan a movie if they use the wrong buttons on the uniforms. Personally, I thought it was a terrific movie! Lots of action from start to finish. Heavy focus on fighting bad guys instead of sitting around crying and whining. (If you've seen the movie Jarhead, you'll know what I'm talking about.)

Were there technical issues? Yeah, a few. Nobody ever reloads. Rifles shoot forever. And M-4s shoot full auto in the movie. But the 12 Green Berets are shown in a good light throughout the movie - there are even some pretty good laughs. And plenty of large explosions!! Bad guys are killed without any sympathy. This is what a good war movie should look like.

I’ll have to go see that one; meaning “pay” to see it at the cinema (just so “Hollywood” gets the point). Same way with Clint Eastwood’s new movie (The 15:17 to Paris) about the three Americans (ex-military) that spoiled the terrorist attack on that French train. Hollywood needs to wake the fric up!

I believe this is opening weekend for ‘12 Strong’. Sent the old lady the ‘Trailer’ for this movie; was pretty sure I’d be going alone (she doesn’t tend to like “shoot ‘em up” movies). Hell, even after all these years, she’ll occasionally surprise me: we’re going to see it tomorrow!

Good flick! Even the wife enjoyed it... and she beat me in guessing where it was filmed: two or three different sites, all located in New Mexico.

I rented and watched "12 Strong" tonight, I enjoyed it, good movie. I will have to check out "Legion of Brothers" and see how closely Hollywood portrayed it.

    X2 on that.

Good cross between feel good and reality. As its based upon a true story and it paints a good picture of soldiers and America then I can forgive the guns that shoot forever and never having to reload on a horse at full gallop...you would REALLY have to be one hellva of a horseman to reload a M4 on a horse at full gallop, near impossible.

Good movie made great by the lack of interpersonal drama, subplots, social messages on gaydom, trannys, etc and the typical garbage that obscures most movies today.

Rented it last night. Enjoyed every explosion. And was proud to learn the Horse Soldier has a statue at the World Trade center

Just finished watching "Legion of Brothers", and in a way I'm glad I had watched "12 Strong" first. 12 Strong gave me an understanding of what had happened with one team and made it easier to follow what Legion of Brothers was about. Legion of Brothers brought it to a more personal level and drove it home the realization that these men were real people, with real families and real lives. Both were very good movies, but I did find it a bit ironic that CNN Films produced Legion of Brothers.
