The FFL I use for my firearm purchases and sales, tells me he has received a brand new Glock 19X. I had not heard of this firearm until I got his call. He and I are negotiating for a Glock 19 Gen 5 I want.

I did a little internet research over the weekend. Seems the jury is split on this G19X firearm. Some love it, others think if Glock wanted to do it right they should have put the G17 slide on the G19 frame.

I am not a Glock fanatic. I own one G43 and one G19. I can't decide if I want this G19X over the G19 Gen 5 pistol I am waiting for.

Any of you guys picked up one of these yet?
If so, what are your personal opinions.
I am not asking for things someone read on the internet. I am looking for first hand experience. Deal or no deal?

Solution in search of a problem. And yes, the G17 slide on the 19 frame would have made more sense.

I am not a tremendous Glock fan either but I would go with the Gen 5 personally. The 19x is just the MHS guns that Glock had in the rafters, waiting to see if they would win the contract with the Army. The 19x was designed for military use and not concealed carry use. For some reason people thought that Glock was releasing this with that in mind. In reality it is just surplus that they had that was more than likely suppose to go to military armories. I think people were just pissed about the Gen 5 Glock and it's lack of "new things" and then the 19x comes along to compound that feeling. I have no idea

    With that said,
I have heard from MAC (Military Arms Channel) that you cannot use basic G17 magazines in it or you would have to cut down the lip on the front strap. Also another channel that I watch had to have his sent back to Glock because it wasn't 100% reliable after a few hundred rounds. Think it was 600+ rounds it started to shit the bed. The replacement 19x he recieved was running like any other Glock after two thousand rounds. First one might be a lemon but who knows.

On the positive side, the 19x will be a limited edition gun. I think it comes with 4 mags from the factory. The finish on it was really nice when I handled one. I like the big grip one it. Its a combat handgun and not something I would carry everyday

I attached the image to this post from MAC. I will also link the youtube videos for you if you want to watch that. They are good videos and worth the watch

imo Gen 5 > 19x. Either way Glocks have very good resale value. They truly are the hondas of the firearms world

I think Glock is late to the party on this one. This compact slide on a full size frame has been around for years with the M&P, FNS, FNX and now FN509 lines just to name some. It is funny because all those years that the M&P was only offered in that configuration people complained that they needed a Glock 19 size (compact slide / compact frame) pistol. So, they come out with it and Glock comes out with the other.

Also touching on the FN, if they would come out with a 509 that is Glock 19 / M2.0 Compact size it would be a seller!

First, not all hand guns are purchased with the intent to conceal them. If that was the case, they'd all be the size of a Sig P238. One of the ideas around the G19x and others in this size offering (Sig P320x carry is another example) is a holster gun with a full sized grip where the shorter barrel/slide helps facilitate sitting with it. As in a car.

On the concealed carry front, there are some that routinely carry and conceal full sized duty guns because they like the capacity and larger grip. Having a somewhat shorter slide takes very little away from a full sized gun (yeah I know sight radius) and may even improve draw performance.

I wouldn't mind having one and, depending how well I got along with it, it might be a good nightstand option. But I'm not going to go chasing all around town to buy one. Once the frenzy is over we'll see. For now I'm liking my G19.5 quite a bit.

And as far as this release being a one time run because of overstocked frames... that could be the case but it's speculation. They are selling like hot-cakes. From a business prospective, I don't see Glock killing something that's bringing in revenue, especially since all of the engineering and upfront costs have already been spent. Again though, that's just speculation.

I guess I will know at 6:30pm today. I am meeting my FFL and he has one in stock. He doesn't have one of the new Gen 5 G19s though. I will have to compare this G19X to my Gen 3 G19.

Unlikely that they are intended to be one off to sell inventory. Pricing doesn’t suggest that they are intended to be unique. 100% agree that it’s a product intended to recoup their investments into the MHS program.

All mags except G5 work with this gun, AFAIK. Unless you bought up a bunch of non existent G5 mags whatever is in hand will work. Concealment wise, I’m 5’6” and have concealed an XD45, HK45, G21+X300 in Texas summers. You’ll be surprised what a good holster can make disappear.

The only reason I’m looking at this is cause of the longer grip. It places that idiotic jump lower in my hand which makes the 17/34 point far more natural than the 19. The 19 tends to point high. For me the 19 tracks the flattest, so the combo of shirt slide and long frame, as goofy as it sounds may be worth a look.
