soooo, when folks asked "Why I don't fly"? I always told 'em, they won't let ya kicked the tires before boarding, (my cousin got his license to fly before his driver's license and from age 15 on I flew with him - he taught me and his dad both to fly, as we were both considered legally blind in one eye and not able to get a license - and the #1 pilot rule was "always check the condition of your aircraft" before ya get in it).

Well now I have a new reason "not" to go near an airport : https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/animalia/wp/2018/01/22/fur-and-fury-at-40000-feet-as-more-people-bring-animals-on-planes/?utm_term=.63d2441aab46

I thought I was old school since I haven't flow in almost 17 years. I was a consultant and flew bi-weekly for many years with my last flight being in the spring of 2001. With Sept 11, TSA, fights on planes and articles I've read about non-certified "service" animals I can't say I miss it!

Your Emotional Support Duck Is Not Welcome in Seat 15C

Delta casts a skeptical eye on snakes, turkeys, possums and ducks in the cabin.

The day of the service duck and emotional support chicken on airlines may be drawing to a close.

Delta Air Lines Inc. said Friday it will more thoroughly vet passengers’ efforts to fly with all manner of unusual animals, which often board U.S. airlines under the guise of psychological or medical support.

“Customers have attempted to fly with comfort turkeys, gliding possums known as sugar gliders, snakes, spiders and more,” the airline said Friday in a news release. “Ignoring the true intent of existing rules governing the transport of service and support animals can be a disservice to customers who have real and documented needs.”

As of March 1, Delta customers traveling with a service or support animal must show proof of the animal’s health or vaccinations 48 hours before a flight. Besides the current letter signed by a doctor or licensed mental health worker—which can be easily obtained on the internet—those with psychiatric service or emotional support animals must sign a form to attest that the animal can behave.

I am "professional human cargo." In other words, I spend more time sitting in airline seats a year than I care to add up!

This was an isolated incident, and I can attest that there are far greater things to fear when you are crammed inside an aluminum tube doing 460–575 MPH 39,000 feet above Mother Earth! :p

Yep! Without air travel I could not have done my last job of 20 years. Lifetime elite level on several airlines. I still travel a lot by air but now it is for fun!

Good. This crap is getting out of hand.

They are gonna get sued but I fully support restrictions on service animals. It is a very abused system.

I fly quite a bit for work myself and I agree. This "problem" is way overblown.
