My comments were aimed at those advocating an extended shutdown, not shutdowns of the past. I worked for the government during at least two shutdowns, with no time off because of it and no break in pay, but I knew several armed services people that had it lasted longer would have been in much hardship.

The Dems caved because they completely fucked up. They filibustered to cause the shutdown then blamed the repubs for the shutdown. It was total fail.

In other news, lots of evidence coming out that there was collusion between Obama, the Justice Department, FBI, and Clintons to wash away the email scandal and open up an unfounded investigation in to Trump and Russia in order to take Trump out of the presidential race.

AustinN4 & YG, I totally agree with your assessments. I’m not sure exactly how, but Schumer came to a fairly quick understanding the public, in general, wasn’t buying the ‘blame game’ they were trying to put at Trump’s doorstep.

The FBI has absolutely lost complete credibility. They are no longer a fair and impartial enforcer of law and order. They have just become a mafia-style, “behind the scenes” thug enforcer for whatever Party controls the DOJ - so far, that’s only been the Democrats. If they want to start to clean up their image, they need to be an independent organization and can start by bringing criminal charges against Eric Holder.

Considering what that fag Hoover did, is the FBI really any different now?

Gonna be a big fight now. I agree with letting them stay with a green card (not their fault their illegal parents brought them here) as long as they pass a background check (hey, we gotta, why shouldn't they) but not full citizenship with voting rights and no chain migration. They can get in line behind everyone else and apply for citizenship.

Also, the lottery system needs to end and should be replaced with a merit based system.

I could go along with that. But only with 4 other restrictions.
Only one of the parents gets to stay and only until the kid is 18.
The parent must be gainfully employed with no criminal record.
The child can have no criminal record class B midomeanor or higher and must be able to graduate high school.
Absolutely NO WELFARE. Of any kind.

and, with the proviso that once they get their permanent status ("green" card), they can be booted out if they subsequently are accused and convicted of any felony or crime of violence--including domestic violence. So basically, they should never become citizens, never vote, and never get to be freebies for the Dems to count on as voters in future elections.
