I dunno. I just know they were the first band where I was a real fan. I've seen them live ~20 times. Ann Wilson had a voice that didn't require sound reinforcement. :)

Her voice is less than it once was but still amazing. I'll never forget Fergie appearing on stage with them at some big show (MTV? I don't remember.) and trying her best to outdo Ann Wilson. Fergie was doing one-handed cartwheels and striking poses and pushing her voice...and Ann Wilson just stood there and blew her away.

I haven't even gotten to the incredible Nancy with her beauty, voice, and insane guitar skills.

The Stairway to Heaven at the Led Zepplin tribute was pretty amazing. The gal can sing.

I remember seeing the Fugees doing a cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly". Lauryn Hill can sing, but for some reason she was not bringing it that night and maybe that song really isn't for her. It was awful. You could hear her straining to sing the chorus. Halfway through the song Roberta comes out and completely destroys Lauryn. Totally effortless. If you're going to do a duet with that person's signature song, you better be able to keep up.

Just keep in mind that in that video she's well past her prime. The first time I saw Heart in the 1970s, I remember thinking that she was the most powerful female rock voice I'd ever heard.

In her prime, I'd still put her up against anyone in the world of rock/pop/country/jazz. To find a stronger voice, you have to enter the world of opera.

She isn't what she was in 1977, but it really doesn't matter. She is better today, at almost 70 than most of current crowd.

Possibly the one music I just. cannot. take. bagpipes.

I think its cool playing amazing grace for a funeral, outside that, I am out.

Yep, damn things are aggravating enough to be used in preparation for battle by some cultures, for a good reason.

Recorded one of best bagpipe players in Texas on a number of recording projects back in the 90's.

Other than a "Crystal Bowl Meditation" album I once managed to endure, bagpipe projects were the only time I ever felt combat pay was in order.
