Organized some brass today. I have received a lot lately that was mixed or only some was cleaned. I put new media in my tumbler so I'm going to fire it up tomorrow and run some through.

I started looking at chronographs again today. I have a couple gift cards for Cabela's and was thinking about using one for this. My problem is spending so much on something I'm going to use for 1-2 range trips per year. Anyone here have one and want to meet me at the range in exchange for some cash?

Harbor freight has this tiny chop saw that works great. I cut them off at the base of the shoulder. Then I run them through the 300 dies prior to trimming.

It takes a bit more trimming, but they work perfect.
Figured id do a trial run before investing any more $$. Alread bought the dies and case length guage. If it all goes well (and I dont see why it wouldnt), ill be buying that saw and building a jig. Cut the first 10 with a tubing cutter. Worked ok, just rolled the edge pretty bad.

The saw is about $20. You probably spent more than that on coffee.....

You don't need a jig. The saw has a vise to clamp it down on your bench. And another little vise to clamp the shell casing down while cutting. Its amazingly simple and easy. FYI, I advise using the little clamp. That blade is turning some serous RPMs.

Just slide the case to where the saw cuts it at the base of the shoulder. That is short enough to allow sizing the case, and long enough that it requires a trim after sizing.

Only problem I had was my hand cramping about half way through trimming with my Lee trimmer. It chucks onto my cordless drill. Holding the trimmer / case length gauge resulted in the cramp in my hand.

Got a bunch of 3/4" groups yesterday.
Tweaked charge weight today and loaded up some more.
Not sure when I'll get to the range again.

If you are doing a large amount the jig is awesome. I borrowed the saw with an aluminum jig from another member.

Had a tray to catch the cut off necks, another tray behind the saw for the trimmed brass. I could flick the rim after cutting and they'd flip back in the other tray.

Still needed a little trim after sizing but not much. I cut several hundred pretty quick that way.

Vise Grips are the answer you seek.

Finished up a 1,000 .45ACP run using Bulletworks 200 grain LSWC over 231.
The fun part was getting Mr Bulletfeeder adjusted.

I headed out to the garage yesterday morning to organize my workbench and reloading area. Long story short, I wound up reorganizing my entire garage, and the only thing I did reloading wise was decide I have too many presses. So I’ve decided I’ll keep the Rock Chucker Supreme and RL 550B. I will be listing the SDB in 9mm and Pro 1,000 in the classifieds.

Wish I could reorganize my garage in one day! After two daughters moved out and I retired from the construction business, I've got more crap than I can haul off, much less sell! :green:
