    Hey all,

Some time ago I posted a question about handgun training in the DFW area. However, I'd like opinions from anyone who has taken Level 1, 2, or 3 handgun training with Texas Concealed Carry Institute in McKinney. Their website is txconcealedcarry.com.

I'm not looking at them for LTC carry; I already have my LTC. I'm curious about any experiences in their handgun training programs. I've been shooting for 30 years and am very proficient with the function of most handgun platforms, but am looking for something to take my range experience into practical application. Their Level 1 handgun sounds like it's a pretty serious course, lasting up to 10 hours and requiring 600 - 800 rounds of ammunition. I'm not looking for something to teach basic handgun handling and function; I'm looking for something to really get deep into using a handgun in stresful defensive situations. It appears the guys who run this are LEO instructors.

Anyway, if you have any feedback on their non-LTC handgun courses, I'd certainly appreciate it!

I am also interested in this. The website is very well detailed in training but doesn’t give course pricing.

If you click on the calendar like you were registering, it shows a price of $195 for the Level 1 class. Doesn't seem out of line to me if it truly is an all day course.

Yes I have taken Handgun II and III with Phil and Caesar. I think they are great instructors. You shoot a lot of rounds...I think I shot 600 or more rounds in one class. Level III is many complex self defense scenarios- movement, offhand, barriers, simulated injury, 'out to dinner and bad guys rob the place', etc. Something else I like, they offer 'audit' classes which means, if you have taken said class with them prior, you can always take that class again for half-price. I plan to take II or III again for the approx $100.

Hi, no, I did not take Handgun I with them. I took Level I with another instructor. I just e-mailed with Phil prior to II saying 'This is the Level I class I took....this was the instructor...' and Phil was fine with that. Mostly for II they want to make sure you can draw from a holster efficiently and re-holster safely. You shoot more rounds in II, whereas III has many more of the complex scenarios.
