I also practice with only putting a couple rounds in each magazine so that I practice reloading on the move. If you have someone else there timing you and racing each other it will get your adrenaline flowing and it makes it much harder to hit the targets and reload. Never hurts to add reloading into the muscle memory.

The owner of the range I used to shoot at (my fault, not his) would occasionally have us shoot while "zooming" the target towards us from 25 yards to touching, across one lane. Obviously not something you'll get to do at "Red's" / or want to. Very enlightening to shoot at a target "running" at you.

Most of my pistol shooting is at 15 yards, or as far as the average range allows.

If given the choice, 200 yards would be preferred and 100 yards would be second.

I really enjoy shooting normal handguns at long ranges. Anything less is boring.

Find a nearby Steel Challenge Match and enter. It's a great way to practice the draw, aim and fire under a measure of duress. There will be some excellent shooters there who will be more than happy to help you along. And you'll have a blast doing it.

How the hell do you even see the target that far?

Ain't that hard with a scope...
    Scope? Oh, no.

Those are still some of us who have witnessed pistol shooters with iron sights, shooting from position (not a rest), consistently knocking down snuff cans at 200 yards. Scopes aren't necessary.

My memories of snuff boxes, then rule changes, then attack chickens, then half-size chickens at 200 will always be vivid.

Personally, the best I've ever done with iron sights from position is going 8 for 8 on pigs at 400 yards. My eyes will never be that good again, unfortunately.

Snuff can at 200 yards with a pistol and iron sights? Sorry, but I would have to see that to believe it. Might happen by pure accident. Even a blind sow finds an acorn every now and then.
