Registering?Unless a person has avoided registering their guns, hiding them will probably not work. The feds would just charge you with the crime of not being in possession of a weapon registered to you. Illegal transfer, negligent loss or somesuch.
Perhaps the only way to stave off confiscation is a mass uprising in support of the Constitution as it was written. Thereby forcing the unconstitutional legislation to be withdrawn. Even that is not guaranteed success. Too many people would probably still sit on their tails.
Maybe you have to register the shirt first.
That would be something I would like to wear if I had to go to California, but then sometimes I'm a pot stirrer.I have seen at least one of those “nobody needs an AR-15?...nobody needs a whiny little.....” shirts around.
This one is very appropriate as well. Mens My 30 Round Mag Identifies as a 10 Round Mag T-Shirt AR-15 Large Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0765YBH97/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5y1IAbJ9M26C1

Don't make me stir the pot on you.You cook yer' pot?
The stupid is strong in Denver... it was suggested that someone should turn in a 2x4 and a rubber band to the DPD and then sue them for seizure without compensation (basically theft by the state). There is 42 U.S.C. §1983 that would guarantee recovering attorney's fees. He thought it would be poetic forcing Denver to incur $150,000+ in attorney fees for confiscating a 2x4 and a rubber band. I like giving them a set of overalls as an idea, too... walk in wearing them, advise them you've used the suspenders as a "bump stock" before... so remove them in the station and walk out in your skivvies. "y'all want my thumbs, too? You're going to have to get a proper surgeon in here if you want them"
Because they're threatening $100-999 in fines and/or jail time if you don't... I guess extortion is a better description? How is it seizure without compensation if you turn it in ?
I agree that this is how it will happen. To edit #9: there will be false claims against an individual by "someone in the community" of child and/or spousal abuse. This will give the authorities cause to confiscate all of one's guns, for the safety of those in the household, until the trial....2 years down the road. In which time the guns were mistakenly destroyed. They will continue to try:
- Reducing the type of firearms that can be legally possessed
- Restricting ammunition supply
- Putting difficult technical restrictions on firearms (micro ID), so as to limit new manufacture
- Ban all importation.
- Ban manufacture.
- Implement a national registry, under the guise of tracking down those who misuse firearms to reduce crime
- When this does not reduce crime (as it never will), they will use this as an excuse to proceed to confiscation.
- They will start confiscation with threats and perhaps financial incentives to get people to turn their firearms in voluntarily.
- Next, they will try to pick those still owning guns off one at a time. Quietly. They will not issue a proclamation and send out a vast police force or the army. Such would invite large, organized resistance that would be too costly for the government (perhaps even failing completely and bringing the unlawful government down). No, heavily armed men will catch you in town. Or coming out to your car. Or walking to the mailbox. Or leaving work where you are not allowed to carry for fear of being fired. Or in the dead of the night. You will be arrested and your firearms will be seized. And this will be done before you can raise fellow 2A defenders to come to your aid. Maybe they will also hit some others simultaneously. But they will not come in force and hit the entire town. They may not visit your little part of the neighborhood again for a while. Let people get back in their routine and let their guard down. They are patient, but they will be back. And this is how they just might succeed.
Spent 8 years beating this subject to death. Is there something new to discuss about it?
Well , I've sold all my guns privately....
Wow that’s good!
Lets clear the air and get to the root of the issue: It has NOTHING kids being killed, in fact the left rejoices every-time it happens.
Few of the left will tell you what they really want, which is the total confiscation of All firearms except for those held in the hands of the military and the LEO’s. But wait, there are more exceptions they will never tell you about: The well-connected billionaire boys clubs, the bodyguards of the rich, famous and politico’s and of course the bad guys, the criminal element, they will always have guns; Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, pick you liberal city and guns abound.
Fact is the left wants to kill the 2nd Amendment and if they could get a few more Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s on SCOTUS they could kill off the entire US Constitution…which Ms Ginsburg has no use for. That is the end game here.
They are NOT going to confiscate them. Take the entire military + Police + DHS+ FBI + Boy Scouts + PTA + Hertz/Ryder Rent A Truck ETC ETC: You still lack enough people and truckage to haul them away, but what do you do with 120 Million guns x avg weight of 8 lbs each almost 1 BILLION pounds of guns. Logistics just does not work.
Now the problem is not as difficult as we thought. The Govt has some VERY powerful tools: First they have a database of every gun that has gone thru NICS ( I KNOW you don't believe the crap that they don't keep a record, I spent 26 years in Fed Govt, trust me they got the records). Then they have the IRS...remember Obamacare, remember how SCOTUS shoved it down our throat? "Congress has UNLIMITED power to tax"
If you go back and read anything Fienstein or Schumer etc etc says they tell us exactly how they are going to do it: Ask you to turn them in! The bulk of the people will GLADLY turn them in BECAUSE: They are law abiding people, death by a thousand cuts, WACO and the govt will pay them money and maybe give them a tax break on the loss.
Most folks are law abiding and yes it is expected that about 66-75% of all people will turn in their guns. That IMO is a very realistic number. Oh they will sweeten the deal with buy back cash and I expect a tax deduct for all guns you purchased from a legit business that you paid over $1000 for with a receipt. Say you paid $1500 for your gun from Joes gun shop and you have the receipt, the first $1000 you eat and the $500 is deduct if the gun is 1 year or less old, $400 if less then 2 years etc.
Not ever gun will qualify. My buddy who is a well known gun collector, you have read his articles in gun magazines for years, every gun he owns was made prior to 1900 and is classified as an Antique. He will keep his.
Death by a thousand cuts starts out with a ban on AR's or ANY gun that have at least 1 Military trait, such as a pistol grip, bayonet lug etc (D Feinstien just wrote this a few days ago in her upcoming gun bill). "Gun's you already own will be Grandfathered" (her words)...till the next mass shooting, death by a thousand cuts approach. I sure would not pick an AR to do a mass shooting with. If the goal is carnage in a school room or office then nothing like a 12 ga with double OO.
It will start small and grow from there till they get those of us who are holdouts. Then it will be WACO Time on some guy, maybe some of the folks I know with more than 100 guns. I personally at one time had over 200. But my military career with its moves and my divorce I sold off all but a few. By the way anyone who thinks Waco was anything other than a shot over the bow by the Feds to tell us gun guys who will happen if we don't turn them in. Clinton was supposed to have done a gun buy back and turn in but he appeased the UN and his power people behind him with the AWB...which clearly worked as there was not a single drive by Bayoneting in the entire 10 years of the AWB. (DRIPPING Sarcasm!!!!)
After a Waco or 2 or more across the US they estimate all but 10-20% max will turn in and take the cash. WHY? Better still let me tell you WHY I won't turn mine in, even if the Waco is next door: NO kids, no grandkids, only son, end of the family line (yes I went to Vietnam in spite of that), I have no family except my wife we have not been married very long and she thinks like I do, she never had kids and what little family she has she is estranged from and they do not live in the US.
In short, I wrote a blank check in Jan '67 to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and nothing has changed!
What I don't have is a granddaughter saying granddaddy please give them your guns I don't want you killed.
The take away: The immediate future with Trump and some other look ok, but longterm meaning another far left (Obama/Hillary) type and a Dem controlled Congress does not bode well for gun owners, the future (post 2020) is dim.
From what I gather the Texas lakes are extremely hazardous to Texas gun owners if a threat of confiscation is voiced.
