Polk County, Fla. Sheriff Grady Judd said it would be a "game changer" to allow some hand-picked teachers to carry firearms in the classroom.

Judd said his initiative would screen and select teachers with skill and psychological requirements that exceed the Florida State Police's requirements for their officers.

"We have got to wake up, wake up and understand that we have to have... specially trained people that have concealed firearms that can run to the threat and protect our children," Judd said.

He said that every school and college campus in the state of Florida is already a "gun-free zone," but that "crazed person" like shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz have shown they do not abide by such policies.

Judd said it would be a "game changer" if some teachers were armed, pointing to two coaches at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who died shielding students from gunfire.

The above described screening process will likely eliminate the majority of the mary boys and butchy girls from the teaching profession.
The more normal the teachers are the more normal the students will be.
Maybe no more Adam Lanza or Nicholas Cruz types.

We'll have none of that, in no way does that go along with the anti-gun narrative. Mass murderers need places to vent.

I keep my gun in my car at school only because it's legal to do so.. If It wasn't I'd have to leave it all the way home, even then it does me no good because during an incident it's over 100 yards away. I have more range time than most law enforcement folks and definitely more rounds down range, yet I am not allowed to protect our most vital resource, our children.

I'd say our priorities are fucked up. We protect money with armed men, but we don't give children the same benefit. If the left really gave a damn about children they'd be screaming for armed presence at schools instead of disarming the public.

Cops are racist murderers according to the left, except we should disarm everyone BUT the cops and the military... OK. THAT MAKES SENSE.

There is a program enacted by the Texas Legislature called the School Safety officer program. Instructors are taught and certified by the DPS to educate those Teachers and other School employees who have an LTC, and are approved by their District to carry while at school. Active shooter training is among the curriculum. We need more School Boards/Superintendants to take advantage of the program.
