Trump is backed by the NRA, and what the NRA did was kowtow to the leftists in suggesting there was a problem of bump stocks and devices that help accelerate semi-auto fire, when they said the BATFE should reevaluate them. Trump is now following through with what seems like a recommendation by NRA, and in that it's my opinion that the NRA now will not be in a position to oppose any such measures.

Yep similar to MG ban in 1986. With NRA blessing.

The NRA whom I believed was our forefront in the battle to save the 2nd amendment is in effect slowly helping to chip away at the 2nd amendment, and for that reason I can't support that.

What, exactly, do you want the NRA to do? Be specific.

    Pretty much this ▼

For me it’s more about what I want them to NOT do.

To NOT be a BITCH about any cut to 2A.

To NOT come out out the box after a shooting, practically requesting that government reevaluate bump stocks, with a slant suggestive of a needed limit on our rights, with a COMPLETE lack of PROOF that that limit would have mattered in any such way in preventing or lessening damage in the shooting.

If they could just not do that, it would be great.

The RFC you mention is the 100,000 comments that haven’t been reviewed yet.

I just checked the Federal Register (updates daily) and nothing has been done.

Realize that in fed speak, a Rule is a regulation and has to follow a slow, tortuous process and analysis. Add to that, Trump has directed the cut 2 to get 1 rule. So, to be proposed for comment, the agency has to identify which 2 will be cut to get the one new.

Now, the analysis part is where rules die. There’s a cost-benefit analysis that has to be completed. Generally speaking, for a rule to be approved, the cost-benefit analysis has to be in favor of the government.

To understand this move, you have to understand the process.

Nice analysis. The fact that no more than 1% of gun owners have a bump stock makes this a bone to appease the left. I would be shocked if the rule ever gets implemented.

The thing is a gadget that many on here have made fun of before. Its not mainstream. Trump threw it out there to take attention away from black guns.

    He knows who elected him.

One of the frustrations with the NRA is that they don't want to completely win and have there be zero conflict over the 2nd... because then they'd cease to exist. They thrive on the threat that the 2nd is going to be taken away or infringed upon. When everything seems safe, what happens to their donations? If there's anything they learned from 8 years of the #1 gun salesman in office, it's that they NEED the conflict to keep the money flowing... first rule of politics: follow the money.

The NRA fully knows that under the then existing regulations that the BATFE had NO authority to ban bump stocks. Their making a suggestion that the BAFTE reevaluate that decision was made knowing full well that it was nothing more than mental masturbation. Under the then existing regulations the BATFE could study bump stocks for years and still not be able to regulate them. Meanwhile it made them look good to the idiots on the left.

The NRA basically handed the left a cup of feces and the left gladly drank it.

Point is, the NRA shouldn't suggest anything towards gun control.
