Yep. I responded "I like the history of the M16". I've probably got ten ARs and at least that many bolt-action rifles. A few years ago, I got sentimental for one of the A2-stocked, rifle-length weapons from my time in service in the late 70s-early to mid-80s. Now I've got two of them too. There's something very satisfying about using the old 20rd mags and wringing out a rifle-length AR with integral carry handle and all iron sights. It's old school enough to satisfy--sort of in somewhat the same way (for me, anyway) as grabbing one of my Garands and plinking away in slow-fire fashion. There's no reason that one needs to blast away at a fast pace just because you're behind an AR on the firing line. It can definitely be appreciated in slow fire.
Yea, my first AR purchase which I still have was a Bushmaster with a fixed carry handle, I bought it for the many memories of the '16 I carried in Vietnam back in '67. I actually ordered it from Bushmaster and got the fluted bbl, sadly it does not have a bayonet lug, wish it did. Been thinking of trying to trade it for one with a bayonet lug as I don't think there is any way to add it since I bought it durning the Klinton AWB!

Anyone else just not too into ARs?
They are fun to build, fun to shoot... but something about them just irritates me. Maybe they're too popular lol.
Yes. They are good to the point of being boring. I have several and will admit that they are fun to shoot, accurate, easy to maintain, and very versatile... and everyone's cousin has one just like it. Even though they are the rational choice for many reasons, there's no fizz.

Thing is, if you build it and put what you like into it, is it really just like anyone's? I doubt there is one just like what I built, maybe look a lot alike, but not just.

I shot the hubster’s one at the range on Monday. Dang, it’s heavy.

    I have a little S&W M&P 15-22. Love it. I want a “real” one though.
But it needs to be lightweight for a start.

I bought my wife the MP 15-22. That has got to be one of the most fun guns to shoot. Her and I have a blast going head2head blasting bottles. Great little rifle...

Despite the fact that there's millions of different parts and accessories, they are all pretty similar. One of mine has a custom paint job that I did by hand so it's near impossible to replicate it exactly, but I'm sure there's others out there that are similar enough that only I'd be able to tell the difference.
