The kid went in when someone was coming out (I think that was it). It was when school was letting out.

Lotta hell being raised this time. We better be on our toes or we will be thrown to the wolves. Bad laws always seem to get passed on emotion, not good sense.

Said this fifty times in the last three days to liberals.
Repeat it enough, and like a lie, it might become believable to them.
    Oh wait ...

While it's despicable to me that's the way they are trained today. In a shooting situation don't go in alone, wait for backup. Why do you think there are so many times SWAT is called out on a supposed barricaded person.

sucks but not many would want to take a pistol and light armor <if any> to a rifle fight.

That’s not what his boss said. He said he should’ve engaged the killer. Which is why he was suspended and resigned.

Actually, I don't think that's right. AFAIK, the modern way of considering these situations is that you enter immediately, with whatever you have on hand. The armed, trained LEO can put pressure on a spree shooter that causes them to abandon their plans. They may get shot, run away, or suicide but merely the act of bringing force to bear instantly is generally considered to be enough to break up the dynamic at work and save lives.

I may be wrong, of course. If an experienced LEO trainer with up-to-date knowledge is reading this, please feel free to jump in.

Man was paid to do a job, and he failed to perform.
Only takes one good man to make a difference.
May that fact haunt him in the dark hours of every morning.

That said, the liberals are blaming the NRA and guns, NOT the shooter.
Let's not fall into that same trap and make this guy the scapegoat.

Not according numerous LEO posting about this on another forum I belong to. It has evolved from what you said to now get in alone if you have to and confront the shooter ASAP.

Ben is correct (although I am not a LEO trainer, I read quite a bit and know some LEO's rather well). After Columbine, the training shifted from "wait for SWAT" to get in immediately. Many of the sick shooters will commit suicide as soon as they see someone with a gun, as they would rather die than go to prison.

I can certainly understand the deputy's fear. Survival is a strong emotion. But what a terrible time/way to find out he could not master that fear and do his job.
