I am currently 19 and not old enough to buy a handgun, I would like some protection for while I'm out and about. Would anyone recommend a smaller fixed blade knife for ccw? Would it be worth it?

Ive got this Benchmade skinner and it’s a good choice for a small, fixed blade knife. The grip will allow pretty good retention when slippery and I wear mine horizontally on my belt. It’s easy to deploy quickly and extremely sharp. Just make sure if you plan on using it for self defense that you follow some instruction from a good knife fighting instructor. A knife will do little good if we emulate how Hollywood uses them. Kelly McCann has some good fighting videos. http://www.benchmade.com/hunting-knives/hidden-canyon-hunter-family.html

    That looks like a pretty good size, I’ve got the 4 & 5 but I don’t have the 3.

Works great in a duty/hiking/approach boot too!

Is there a legal age requirement for carrying a concealed fixed blade??

I’ve tried a few fixed blades and the best one for me turned out to be a Clinch Pick from Amazon. Pretty much disappears at 11:30 On my waist with nothing more than a t shirt. Relatively easy to use once you get the idea to NEVER put your thumb on the top firmly implanted into your brain. Bad things happen to your thumb if you forget . Grab it like a monkey and poke holes in things.
