My thoughts on Liberal lies

1. The left wants the American public to think that AR stands for Assault Rifle. FACT: AR really stands for Armalite Rifle.
   
   
2. The left wants the American public to think that an AR is an assault rifle. FACT: A true assault rifle is selective fire. Something that the AR isn’t.
   
   
3. The left wants the American public to think that the AR is only good for killing people. That’s clearly not true. They are used for target shooting and hunting. More people are killed with blunt objects than with rifles of all types.
   
   
4. The left wants the American public to think that the AR is a high powered military grade killing machine. FACT: The AR is not military grade. Nor is it high powered. In fact the 5.56 is the lowest powered military rifle cartridge ever issued to American troops. The .45-70 was more powerful, the .30-40 Krag was more powerful, the .30-06 was more powerful, and the 7.26x51 was more powerful.
   
   
5. The left wants the American public to think that no one “needs” to own an AR. FACT: The last time I checked it wasn’t called The Bill of Needs. I would argue that Americans should be allowed to own the same arms, without restriction, issued to the military.
   
   
6. The left wants the American public to think that the Second Amendment only applies to the militia. FACT: That is blatantly untrue, study of the writings of the Founding Fathers will show that they felt that all Americans should be allowed to own arms.
   
   
7. The left wants the American public to think that school shootings happen at the rate of about three a week. FACT: What they don’t tell you is that two drug dealers shooting at each other a block away from a school on a weekend is something they count as a school shooting.
   
   
8. The left wants the American public to think that “just one more common sense anti-Freedom” law will solve the “problem”. FACT: The left wants nothing more than to totally disarm the American public. That’s the only way they can ram their agenda down our throats.
   
   
9. The left lies about “high capacity magazines”. FACT: 20-30 round magazines for an AR-15 is the NORMAL capacity magazine.
   
   
10. The left wants the American public to think that no one needs to own a semi-automatic firearm. FACT: Hell, that’s so stupid I’m not going to touch it.
    
    
11. The left wants the American public to think that a “bump stock” turns a semi-automatic into a machine gun. FACT: Hell, that’s so stupid I’m not going to touch it.
    
    
12. The left wants the American public to think that cosmetic items like a barrel shroud, a folding stock, a muzzle device, a pistol grip, or a bayonet lug makes a rifle more deadly. Just look at what was and wasn’t banned during the “Assault rifle ban” period. Or what some states continue to ban.
    
    
13. The left wants the American public to think that the Second Amendment doesn’t apply anymore because the Founders didn’t know we would the kind of arms we have today. FACT: If you want to go down that road then only white landowners can vote, slavery is legal, Free Speech only applies to paper and turkey quills...not the Internet.

I’ll attempt to break down some of these lies.

Criminals don’t care about laws. Nor do laws have any effect on the actions of criminals. If every legally owned firearm magically disappeared tomorrow the criminals would go on the rampage. Just look at what happened on some of the Caribbean islands after the hurricanes last summer. Those islands have very strict gun laws but the criminals had guns.


There’s NO functional difference between a Ruger 10/22 and a full dress AR-15. Both are magazine fed semi-automatic rifles. The same for a Ruger Mini-14 and a AR-15. Both are magazine fed semi-automatic rifles, they even use the same cartridge.


One thing that really gets my goat is someone who says “I support the Second Amendment...but”.


There is no “BUT”. Either you support the Second Amendment or you don’t.

What no one is saying, is that no law ever written, no commandment ever carved in stone STOPPED a person from committing an act. Laws are only good after the fact, so we can punish the offender. The punishment aspect may cause you to rethink committing a crime, but the law itself has never stopped anyone bent on doing the crime.
