Mike Weisser is an oxymoron. NRA member and espouses leftists ideology. Sorry Mike. That does not work with me. Anyone who believes in government as an inherit good to the common man and woman needs to take another look at government and the policies it has put forth in the last 100 years and how those policies are still with us: Social Security, Medicare and other poverty-related programs. 62% of the government budget. None of these are constitutional. A drag on every man and woman. A false promise and a scam: Ponzi scheme. No trust fund exists or an account with your name on it.

No, it takes $40 these days.

So if someone can't afford to pony up at least $500 (last I recall) to be a voting Life Member, they should die, is that correct?

You don't have to be a Life member to vote. One just has to have 5 years continuous membership.

I just checked prices. $30 for a year, $55 for two, $75 for three or $100 for five. Life membership is $1500, which can be paid monthly or quarterly, $25 per. There's also Distinguished Life membership which is $750 for those over 65 or Disabled Veterans, again payable monthly or quarterly, $25 per.

The cost of an NRA Life membership is on par with snuff, coffin nails, coffee, or ammo on a monthly basis.

    Life membership is $1500,...
...except when it's on sale. I bought a Life membership when it went on sale for, iirc, $350.

With the heating up of the gun control debate, maybe the NRA is holding firm on prices. I just don't know because I don't track it anymore. A few years ago, though, the NRA offered steep discounts on Life and higher level memberships at least once a year.

I would have never gotten to Golden Eagle if it hadn't been for the occasional fire sale prices on Life, Patron, Benefactor, Endowment, etc. memberships.

Nor I to Patron level, Ben. $300/ea for Life & Endowment; I don't recall the Patron amount but it was definitely a sale price.

Having never done it, I forgot about the 5yr to be a voter plan.

This link, which is what I used last night, lists $40 for a year, $75 for two, $100 for three or $140 for five. If you got your amounts from a renewal form, I'm not surprised they are lower.

I started off as Distinguished Life due to being a Disabled Veteran. I've now moved up to the Patron level. Endowment and Patron were both due to sales. I received an invitation to Benefactor but it wasn't on sale and I just couldn't afford the $1,500.

My wife and I also donate monthly to the NRA-ILA.

I upgraded to life too many years ago to remember, but around the time when they started putting them on sale. I also purchased one for my son. Later I upgraded to Patron, and being forced into retirement would rather not spare the cash for Benefactor. I am listed as "disabled vet" 10% so do not want to push the Distinguished Life.
