We always welcome your "boring" stories.
Probably not in this case. It didn't end well.

My best friend owned the store. He was a much older man and I sorta adopted him as a substitute father. I had, in fact, been mostly rudderless since my dad died when I was 19. One day Spencer wasn't at the shop and the shop was closed. His ex-wife lied about me being family so I could see him in the ICU. He died an excruciating death from complications related to diabetes. The images in my mind of him in his bed, daily losing another body part to amputation, going blind, and having his organs shut down, are chilling memories still. His daughter then went completely off the rails, robbing both of us of the opportunity to grieve together.

It was a very sad ending and I don't like remembering that part. Unfortunately, telling the fun stories always brings the bad stuff back to mind.

    Thus, I demur.
