My son has 3 boys and a daughter. The oldest boys are 15 & 13. I have to suppress a huge smile every time I'm around them. When addressing an adult if the sentence doesn't end with Yes/No Sir/Ma'am it's an immediate 10 push-ups. Been doing it so long it's automatic now. Church on Sun/Wed. Honor Roll in school, etc. Proud of him. On a farm with farm animals. They were given some wild hogs to raise (that didn't work out) and the youngest boy (9) named 2 of them Bacon and Sausage. When asked why "Because this one is going to be made into bacon and that one sausage. They know where their groceries come from.

I found this book to really lay out the argument how men are screwed up but can be fixed: Wild at Heart.

This is a great read. Based on the premise that men NEED three things in life to make their like worthwhile:

    1. A battle to fight

    2. An adventure to live

    3. A beauty to win

It is based on biblical principles and with a strong Christian core.

IDGAF if you believe in God or not, this is an outstanding book, and give meaning and answers to many issues that news clip spoke of at the beginning of the thread

Sounds like you need a range day.

I’m worried about my daughter (that’s what I was blessed with, she’s pretty badass).

She’s having a hard time finding a boy, that is a boy. She’s tougher and more skilled than any of them in her school.

She can wrench, weld, hunt, fish, farm, and look nice in a dress.

This is where PC and identity politics have hurt not just men, but all Americans. Instead of encourage confidence, inclusiveness, positive enforcement and leveling of the playing field through incentives; the left has emasculated men and boys and speaks of micro-aggression and a whole lot of other social warrior crap.

Is it too much to ask, to get back to basics and see girls and boys and men and women as who they are and stop with the social engineering and the remaking of society predicated on pseudoscience and pseudo-social dictates that are not rooted in “true” science?

Eliminating pronouns or referring to mankind as people kind is absurd and utterly ridiculous and is just more of the dumbing down of society and being filled with a bunch of whiney, malcontent and spoiled social justice advocates, whose policies and narrative are hurting the very groups they claim to represent.
The pool of eligible men will decrease and women who have any desire to marry or be around confident men likely will cause some consternation among women as they will find these men have been minimized and marginalized (or turned into metro sexual types) and simply unavailable for any meaningful relationship. So much for the feminist movement and its virtues.

This has been going-on for decades. I recall "metrosexual" couples in Houston way back in the 1970's; dressed alike, similar hairstyles, dietary habits, etc. There are
two underlying causes: 1) Loss of respect for factual TRUTH 2) Schools not allowing "boys to be boys". leVieux

Young ‘Men’ are out there. The New Age (Feminist) Girls consider them barbaric and avoid them, and those that get involved try to change them to no avail. There are a lot of good fellas in the Army, Marines and other Services.

I’m trying to raise three good boys but I’m not done crafting them yet. They are all good looking though, to start with. Full disclosure, they do play video games too much for my tastes, but they do like to go out and shoot and camp. We aren’t hunters, so we don’t know how to teach them that.

My mother in law once had a date with Rod Stewart back in the day, I hear tell. Heh.

Anyway to the topic of the thread. I’m concerned about the fate of men, being the mother of three sons. For sure.

We didn’t really have as much concern over the culture growing up as you might expect because we homeschooled and didn’t have pansy rules, and husband talks a lot about the “pussification of America” to them.

He was pretty proud of them when one teenage brother got picked on at a concert by a grown man, the boys worked together to take care of business right there when the guy stepped out of line to put his hands on one.

They were/are in Scouts, and that organization’s being chipped away at, for sure.

Here’s a female YouTuber giving her 2 cents on the topic of “female privledge.”

She mentions circumscusion. Boy... I had a rough time with that one. I did a few hours of research on that one while the husband was pretty set on just doing it. I’ve argued for hours and hours on that topic on another forum and got a thread locked. Been called a child abuser, even kindly, in a way such as I ‘just hadn’t known any better.’ But yet I did, I definately did my own informed consent, at least with the second son (and third), considered many aspects, including religion. Husband wasn’t conflicted at all and just thought we’d have it done. It would have been easier to have girls, in this aspect, though.

    WildcatDiva,

Your decision to have your infant sons circumcised MAY have save them a serious problem later in life.

My late father at age 24 HAD to have the surgery (I don't know exactly what the problem was, as he was too embarrassed to talk about it.) in early 1941, got an infection from the procedure & ended up in the LSU Hospital for over 2 weeks to be treated for what was probably a staph infection. - Anti-biotics were not commonplace then.
(The anti-circumcision extremists won't tell you that circumcision after puberty isn't necessarily a simple or "relatively painless" procedure.)

    yours, satx

    C_Halbert,

TRUE but in 2018 only about ONE PERCENT of US citizens have served in the Armed Forces, so "the pool" of military men is SMALL relative to the number of women of childbearing age.

A Personal Note: As my lady is half my age & beautiful to look upon, I frequently get asked, "- - - - -- how on Earth did an OF like you capture a young beauty like her?"
My beloved Darla overheard that question a few weeks ago (from the male half of a 20-something couple, who we were working with at a TPWD event) & said, "He may not tell you but I will. I wanted to marry a MAN, who treats me like a lady & I met mine by purest accident & am very glad that I did. I'm quite happy to be HIS."
(Darla later told me that the female half of the couple asked her, while they were manning a table at the event, if she didn't "feel like property" & she responded, "Dressing in the pretty clothes that he likes, wearing my hair down to my waist & always wearing the gold & jade jewelry that he gave me is a very small price to pay for being adored 24/365. I've even learned to like the old jazz & early western music that he likes.")

Note: Early in our relationship, she decided that she didn't want to "stay home twiddling my thumbs" & now goes with me to the shooting range, on hunting/camping/fishing trips & has decided to take riding lessons.
(She has her own deer rifle & rods/reels & knows how to use them, too. = As I've said elsewhere, Darla is DEADLY with her little Model 7615P carbine in 5.56NATO, out to beyond 200M.)

Note: As I've said elsewhere on the forum, now Darla wants her own shotgun that is "my size", so I'm looking for (probably) a DB 20 or 28 gauge that is light enough for her to comfortably shoot/pack in the field.
(Right now, the CZ Sharptail looks like "the pick of the litter", inasmuch as she is 60" tall & 92# & that little 20 is light & "downright purty".)

    yours, satx

Dang!!! My wife and I both served So, what is the percent of women who served? I got out in 1970 (3 years before she did) and she married me before I had a job. How is that for blind faith? For her it’s been over 47 years of boredom and disappointment......LOL

    Gunz are icky.
Most young men just do not have the oppurtunities to improve their skills.
Example: Automobiles. Way back when we had to work on the old junker every day to keep it rolling. Nowadays autos are very dependable and/or too complicated for an average guy to work on.
Then there is that getting dirty thing. Nobody wants to do that. Changing a tire is cause for a panic attack.
