Ask the judge to explain the concept of "jury nullification."
The most insane voir dire I ever experienced saw the prosecutor introduce and explain jury nullification. It was incredibly weird to watch her twist herself in knots trying to explain it away after she had opened that particular can of worms.

Maybe the defendant was her brother in law.

No but it was weird. I've told the story before so I'll keep this short.

The defendant looked like a teenager. The charge was aggravated sexual assault of a child. The prosecutor explained that the "aggravated" part came from the fact that the victim was 14 or under.

Everybody in the jury pool was thinking the same thing: "If this is some senior in high school who got caught with his freshman girlfriend, why is this in court?" A couple of middle school teachers were on the panel and had serious doubts about the reasonableness of prosecuting just because of the age. When the first one started asking questions, the prosecutor shut her down. Then the second one had questions. She even included the sentence (not a perfect quote, but close): "I'm a middle school teacher and I can tell you if you don't think that 12-year-olds can give informed consent and have sex then you're out of touch. It happens all the time."

At that point, the prosecutor blew up and started stamping her feet, raising her voice, and scolding anyone for daring to think about the propriety of bringing charges. She then launched into an impassioned speech about jury nullification and how it was totally evil.

The prosecutor basically blew it by being so sensitive on the issue of age. If the defendant had been accused of assaulting a 5-year-old, then she wouldn't have responded so defensively. The charge being aggravated would have been obviously reasonable once the trial started. By being so defensive and overreacting so badly, she made it clear that the age difference (even though no one would tell us the exact numbers during voir dire) would be minimal.

On top of that, she had so many tells that she was lying and she knew it that I had to suppress laughter. The defense attorney just stayed quiet but was grinning from ear to ear. The judge looked aghast, like he was actively suppressing a facepalm.

    Like I said - weird.

    LOVE it.
Don't get me wrong. As a former LEO i am generally pro law enforcement. I am also very much Anti Sloppy or Biased enforcement and prosecution. I would be a prosecutor's and a Defense attorney's nightmare on a jury. I don't believe any of them and am very much in favor of Jury Nullification.

Never been chosen and I tend to be fairly honest answering their questions. I am truthful in answering that I am a law abiding citizen and I could not have an objective viewpoint in some cases. I also wear a cool punisher t-shirt which defense attorneys don’t seem to like

It’s probably good you didn’t get to ask your followup question. Generally speaking, judges aren’t known for their sense of humor.... he might have found you in contempt.

In jail for contempt might be the perfect excuse for not being available for jury duty

Ask why it's called the criminal justice system rather the victims justice system.

    Tear up your voter registration.

That alone, may not do it.
In younger years, I tried that (not registering to vote). Still got summoned by a city court (Grand Prairie). I asked how that happened. Guy told me, “oh...we use the water bill” to draw their jury pool (no pun intended) from.

In Washington state, my ex wife didn't vote and she always said I was going to be called for jury duty because I did, then the state changed to drivers licenses and she actually got selected before I did.

For as small as it is, Kentucky has the third most number of counties, behind two much larger states (Texas & California). Like a lot of Texas counties, the county courthouse sets in the center of “the square”. Jury selection of your peers. As a child, I saw ‘old codgers’ congregating around the courthouse (usually whittling a stick down to nothing with their Case or Buck pocket knives). Old farmers with nothing better to do, or so I thought. I thought they were just being lazy.

My dad corrected my thinking. He said, no, they were hoping the bailiff would come out of the courthouse needing jurors and select them for “jury duty” (so they could collect the $1.50 jury pay - not bad money, back in those days).
